6 Million dollars sets us free, free from the coach of a team that has been languishing overall the last 4 years.

John Fox is stale. His formula hasn't outlasted the test of time. He is one of few head coaches to last more than 7 years and has the least to show for it. This is a guy tenured among the likes of Bill Belichick and Andy Reid and he cannot compare at all to those two. Fox has had the oyster that is the NFC South. The benefit of playing in a division in an inferior conference with no consistent teams and not a whole lot of competitiveness overall. There's no juggernaut like the Colts we have to play twice every single year and divisional matchups aren't nearly as cut-throat and pride incentive like the games displayed in the NFC East.

Seriously what kind of confidence can you have in a guy that is noncommittal about his return.

Just get a new guy.

This is a tactical argument with no merit created by fear mongering John Fox fans trying to explain how bad we would be and how he's irreplaceable and how everybody's going to kick our ass without him. Most of them do not understand how much goes into a season that bad, and that George Seifert only contributed a factor of it, and some of them forgot to take their metamucil in the morning so they're just feeling uneasy in general. Years and years of bad personnel decision making and trades that didn't bear any fruit and drafting players like Rashard Anderson had a hand in it as well.

Okay, um, there's nothing really inspiring about beating anyone's second/third string. We did that today. So did Buffalo. Should Bills fans start crowning Perry Fewell as a guy with a future ahead of him?

But what about the lockout? Think of the lockout!

Lol a 2nd year head coach's salary will only count as a smidgen of the grand total amount of money Jerry Richardson will lose if the NFL boards up for a year. Think of how many dollars he will have to pay for Jake Delhomme, Jordan Gross, Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith, Chris Gamble and Jake Delhomme alone. Hell, using that logic, Jerry Richardson might as well freeze all prospective future investments, from re-signing players such as Thomas Davis to acquiring even low end free agents.

There are plenty of coordinators eager to move on up and make a name for themselves from Vikings DC Leslie Frazier to even Steelers OC Bruce Arians and they won't come nearly as expensive as what we give John Fox now.

But we should get a defensive minded head coach because that's the only way you'll have a good defense

This is such a crock of poo. Just because you have a head coach that coordinated defense previously doesn't mean you will have a dominant defense, and it has more to do with the DC you have under him. Jon Gruden, a former WRs coach, had Monte Kiffin. Andy Reid, until last year, had Jim Johnson. Brad Childress has Leslie Frazier. Brian Billick had Rex Ryan. And countless head coaches that had been former defensive coordinators fail to field a good defense. Lovie Smith, Mike Smith, Marvin Lewis, and most recently, Steve Spagnuolo, are just a few examples.

After considering that, hiring an offensive minded head coach such as Jason Garrett doesn't sound like the worst idea you've ever heard, because it doesn't necessarily mean our defense will give up points like hooker pussy. Ron Meeks is a very capable defensive coordinator and getting a guy in here that can work with our QBs and/or bring new talent in and rebuild the passing game from scratch (and Steve Smith) can help us get production through the air, which truthfully, is the part of the offense the best teams in the league are using to succeed.

The only problem with this is, with all due respect to Jerry Richardson, I don't think he has the cazzis to go through with it.

Yep, Fire Fox, bring in anyone else in the world, Super Bowl guaranteed. Nevermind the fact that we'll probably lose our coordinators who have both done very well for us. Remember how long it took our defense to adjust to a new system before they started playing well? That will probably happen for both the offense and the defense.

I'm not saying we shouldn't bring in a new coach, but it's not an instant remedy like everyone seems to think it is. Honestly, I see no reason why we shouldn't keep Fox for his last contract year. With Moore at QB he'd have to TRY to keep us out of the playoffs.

Do you really think this team won't be extremely good next year with Moore starting all season and our defense continuing to improve?

i wouldn't count on our momentum just starting right up where it left off and continuing on after a 9 month recess from regular season football.

I agree. I am also still concerned about the QB situation despite Moore's apparent promise.

Why? The interceptions and horrible play didn't end after 8-9 months break this past year.

      Spoken like someone who hasn't watched nearly enough of T-Mac other than a few short highlight clips to know his game. The only thing he doesn't have is the short area quickness in the way that you're looking for, as you seem to want that Jefferson/Chase type of WR, which sure, he's not that. But him and XL are nothing alike, let alone having the same strengths and weaknesses.  In particular, T-Mac's #1 strength is LITERALLY XL's #1 weakness, their hands.  T-Mac has vice grips for hands, catches darn near everything, and does it all with hands catches, the opposite of XL.   Beyond that, you mention prioritizing route running, of which, T-Mac already runs a complete NFL route tree at a high level.  Yes, he needs to work on his get off the line at the snap and get a little crisper on some of his cuts to create separation, but again, all players need to work on something, that's just what his is.  It doesn't change that he is already a great route runner, there are just some small elements of it that he can improve on. Even then, it's like I've been saying, the trade off of not having that true elite separation like the smaller WR's get, is how good he is at using his body to keep the DB's from being able to break up passes and just making contested catches in general.  You lose a little bit of separation, but his 6'5" body gives him advantages that the smaller WRs just don't have. Again, your post here insinuates that T-Mac is a slow, plodding big WR who isn't a proficient route runner, which couldn't be further from the truth.  I have no issue with people wanting other players over T-Mac, or just not wanting him at all.  But they need to be logical reasons, not made up ones in your head because you don't actually know the player and his abilities.
