The difference between '08 and '09

In the 2008 season, the Panthers pulled HOW many games completely out of their asses? Off the top of my head, 4.

-Week 1 @ San Diego. 4th and WHAT? Jake Delhomme throws a miracle pass to the back of the endzone that is caught for a dramatic win. If luck isn't on our side, 11-5.

-Week 8 vs. Arizona. If Steve Smith doesn't make one of the most acrobatic catches I've ever seen, tightroping the sideline, Carolina loses this one. 10-6.

-Week 13 @ Green Bay. It's the final 2 minute drive, and Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith connect for a hail mary bomb. Classic Panthers, but you see the trend. 9-7.

-Week 17 @ New Orleans. Pretty much a mirror image of the Green Bay game, Steve Smith bails out the Panthers again.

My point is, if the Panthers don't just get the biggest strokes of luck in these games, they are 8-8. Yes, we had Turnover McGee in '09, but still, a few lucky bounces and the Panthers are in the playoffs. Just didn't happen this year, but next year could be the luckiest one of all.
