It looks bad in the pic but IMO Meachum did a fine acting job from the beginning to draw that flag. Captain's hand wasn't on the helmet the entire time, it might've slid from the shoulder pad.

It was a big hit that was within the rules of the game...plain and simple.

that call cost me a superbowl in a fantasy league.

i had the panthers defense. giving the saints on the goal line allowed a TD instead of most likely a field goal which gave them 10 points instead of 6. this reduces the defense's points in fantasy because they they didn't give up less than 10 points and i lost my league championship by 2 points. without that call, and the saints score a field goal, i win!

that BS call cost me an entire season in that fantasy league!

but was that a blow to the head? the contact came with the shoulder pad and then continued through to grabbing the helmet. to me thats not a blow to the head. i was looking for a video to see if he did in fact clothesline him with the arm or forearm, but thats just not how i remember it.

Either way, the ref practically waited until the next snap before he threw the flag. The backjudge in front of the play seemed to think it was within the rules.

It takes TEN seconds to determine that? That's right. I watched the game again and it took that long to throw the flag and from what I understand, there was no replay at BOA.

The ref threw the flag because Meachem appeared hurt. So we're going to throw flags now because someone gets hits and gets injured? What is this, soccer?

Captain did NOT grab him by the neck, he tackled him down with one arm. The ball HIT Meachem's hand so how's that make him defenseless?

Well, I guess it doesn't matter either way unless he gets fined. Then I'll really have an issue with it.

it said that in the rules you quoted. the blow came to the should pad, you're saying it was an unnecessary hit? i dont know but i think this rule is too subjective in this case.

just like the maintain possession rule.
