Trade Gross, Let Schwartz Start Next Year

What round was Matt Moore drafted in?

Amazing how people would jump up for a Pep trade, an ALL-PRO 1ST ROUND PICK, but soooo against a Gross trade who's turning 30 soon. How long you expect to hold onto him

Yall underrating Schwartz and Magazu to be ready for the future, just like yall did Moore

isnt schwartz playing RT and wharton back to LT, with bernadeau now at LG. i am ok with that for now, but would rather have a better LG. that said we go have duke waiting to take over at one of the gaurd spots, and bernadeau is ok (not wharton in the run game from what i have seen). really i am more concerned on what you do at LG if you trade gross, as wharton is the best LT after gross and he is showing well again, but he is a elite LG imo. its nice that our best 2 OL are so versitile (wharton and gross), and we have a host of better than average backups. now we could go looking for another LG in the draft if we do this, idk.

personally i think the backup tallent is all on the right side in duke robinson and jeff schwartz. plus otah is young, but idk if he would be as good at LT as right, then again thats what people said about gross for years............

it would allow for alot more cap flexability (whenever the cap comes back) to get a stud WR like marshall.

Ok so I guess Moore played against a crappy Giant team, a crappy saints team, and a crappy Vikes team. What are you talking about. Vikes was not crappy when we played them. Stew was the first rusher to rush over a 100 yards in a long time against them. Giants D-Line wasn't crappy either

Your argument is flawed. Like I said Schwartz has talent, and he's huge. We have an o-line coach who's proved no matter how many injuries we have, he can get it done. And we need a receiver

The Giant's suck, they are getting demolished by the Vikes.

The Vikes got demolished by us, as did the Giants.

The Vike's were playing crappy ball until today, and the Giant's have been playing crappy for 8 weeks, and on top of that Schwartz is playing against the Saint's second string.

You argument is FLAWED, mine is FLAWLESS!!!

Gross not worth a first? Beaston your a ****** ignoramus, this thread is one of the more ignorant ones created yet, just behind the 300 sign Vicks.

Eh... Im not getting into that Pep. This thread far from ignorant. Maybe we can get a 1st round for him, Idk if we can is what I was saying

I was just throwing this idea out there to see what people thought. Didn't really look a lot into it

The D line that the Vikes and Giants have are among the best in the NFL. They were healthy and we wasnt. The results was two wins, Stewart with over 300 yards, Matt more with over 450 yards 6 touchdowns and no interceptions and only had 3 sacks in those games.

I believe your statement is flawed sir

I apologize for jumping down your throat, but the thought is very bad. You don't trade franchise LT's especially after they just signed a large contract, the cap hit for one. And to say that our replacement is capable with limited playing time, is where you have lost your mind and the reason people in the business laugh at dumb fans, in which us the Panthers have an abundance of.

i don't disagree with you in principle, but i don't think it would be that easy. Despite what we've seen the last three games, I don't think we have a legit starting option behind gross and i think we are quick to forget the years we went without continuity on the line. I agree we need WR help and I agree that our oline depth has shown great promise. But I am happier with a deep oline than i am with a second receiver who may or may not pan out. We got lucky this year with our depth, and i'm not so confident that we will be so lucky again, combine this with the fact that we have an extremely deep receiving corp, they just need someone to throw the ball to them and you can see why I see this as a sort of "bird in hand" scenario.

brandon marshall (the denver wr) not panning out? dude has been a monster. would not be a #2, but our #1 wr. i agree with the depth argument to a degree. i dont like the depth at LT or LG, and thats the concern. really its all about bernadeau and robinson for me. otah could move if nessisary, and schwartz can fill in at RT if wharton went down. after them it gets dicy, then again magz has done a good job with all the linemen we have had the last 3 years.

Like I said, amazing the thought of trading Peppers was thrown so much around here. But Gross, its a bad idea

And our replacement is capable. Our offensive line coach is absolutely undeniably capable of getting him ready. Its a few free agent Tackles out there

It frees us up in this crisis we're in, and we need to get some receivers in here

Watch yall think is going to happen. Schwart going to suck? LOL

With 3 starts he is capable? Why trade players from our top units? Like the trade Stewart threads we have seen all year. LT's have a very long shelf life, I just don't get why we would trade away a definite for an unproven, plus a major lack of depth. Makes no sense, please THINK.

the list includes a few good LTs unfortunately, driving the value of gross down (can sign a guy and give up nothing). there are some intresting guys in that list that could be backups, idk if i love any of them as LGs though, and thats likely where i would go looking for the vet. i trust wharton at LT and likely even otah, but i dont really like anything at LG atm if wharton moved to full time LT (again).

also there are some intreging LG prospects coming out imo that will be backups with alot of upside for the future, and cost less. i would still bring in a vet as i wouldnt throw them to the wolves in pass protection.

If there so good then how come in their losses more than 25 points were put up by their oppenents.

Pittsburgh- 27

Carolina- 26

Chicago- 36

Arizona- 30

As for the Giants just look at some of their losses, I will leave it at that.

Differance Gross never said he didn't want too be here Pep did. This is a stupid thread a good LT can play into and after late 30ies. Why trade gross when you have built a great line. People on this board always want to get rid of players for picks. Which is always a gamble you give up a All Pro for a gamble. How smart is that?

What are you saying? Stewart isn't capable?

Are you saying, Schwartz isn't capable with our o-line coach? Did you think Moore was capable?

What did you think about the Peppers trading threads?

Did you look at the list of free agent tackles? Note in my thead, I did say look at free agent tackles

I mean how long do you want to keep Gross. Forever huh. Until he's worthless? Are you thinking? Or just worried about now

I suppose the Jason Peters trade gives an indication of value, but he was younger (28), cheaper and only had 2 years left on his deal.

Gross is one year into a six year extension, will be 30 next season and is not actually as good as people think he is. Gross' real valuable to this team is being an incredible team player and leader whilst being a very good player. He also loves this team and the area and thus gave us a 'home team discount'. Ship him out after he did that for us and you really do risk losing the locker room, you can also forget about any player in the future giving us a home town discount.

If you disagree that is fine, but there is legit reasoning for why we would struggle to get a second round pick, as the new team would be on the hook for a 5 year deal that they might not like whilst also giving up premium compensation. Considering he also finished on IR and his below usual performance this season and you would be shipping him when his value is at it's lowest point.

You are F'n stupid Gross is a ALL PRO meaning out of all the 60 somthing starting Tackle in the league. Coaches and GM (which you are neither) thought he was 1 of 2 of the best Tackles in the league. So you have lost all creditabilty.
