Trade Gross, Let Schwartz Start Next Year

I wouldnt trade Gross for a draft pick. Keep everybody we have coming back. If you want picks then if Pepp doesnt want to sign, hes our trade bait..I hate seeing these rumors of trading Williams or Gross, etc..We have the makings of a very good team next season, esp with Moores emergence and now Jarrett looking really good out there.

Uh WR

Please dont throw round picks out there. We're going on 2010. Talent plays and Schwartz showed he does have talent, and with Magazu I have no doubt it will come out

if your opinion is that WR is more important than LT then i can understand why you would have this opinion.

Otah might be able to overtake the LT spot pretty soon. But Gross has always been a good player and even though he might not be worth his contract our team has had a history of o-line injuries and I'd rather keep Schwartz as a back up for now. Even though I'm very impressed with him.

schwartz is the perfect backup, he can play 4 positions on the line if he had to. basicly he hasnt been a center, but he might be able to do it idk. he is like hangman, good, but not great at OT like gross. this isnt like the RB situation, we arnt going enough value to replace a all pro tackle.

that said, this isnt the best draft for tackles, maybe a team that needs one gets desperate and trades a 1st for him. also, he would likely be around the same cost as a top rookie FA, but with a proven track record in the nlf as a top flight OT. the injury is likely going to be a big scare for teams considering trading for him. that might be the reason we cant get a 1st.

i have no problem trading anyone, if we get a great return on it. gross is a boarderline all pro, and i would expect a 1st for an all pro, not a 2nd.

also this makes a great deal of sence $$ wise, but gross as others have mentioned is a leader in the locker room. with the freed up $$, a guy like brandon marshall is no longer out of the question.

This is dumb as hell you trade a ALL PRO LT for a pick and let a 7th round pick play LT when he is not playin- g LT now. Why are people even talking about this? You win football games in the trenches don't weaken the trenches.

What round was Matt Moore drafted in?

Amazing how people would jump up for a Pep trade, an ALL-PRO 1ST ROUND PICK, but soooo against a Gross trade who's turning 30 soon. How long you expect to hold onto him

Yall underrating Schwartz and Magazu to be ready for the future, just like yall did Moore

when you have a legit LT options behind gross, and none behind smitty there is a reason to why getting a WR out of our OL depth is important. if i could turn gross into brandon marshall i would do it, we can shift the line around like we did when gross went down and still be successfull at running the ball, and decent protection for moore/qb. at this point we have 1 wr, think what this team could do with the running game we have without gross this year, but with a guy oposite smitty like marshall. who you gona double cover, and how are you not going to load the box with marshall and smitty outside?

Matt Moore stepped in to replace a crappy Quarterback in Jake Delhomme.

Gross did not do any thing wrong and you want to let a 7th round pick take over his spot?

Schwartz played a crappy Giant team, a crappy Saints team, and a crappy Vikings team.

:out:

I suppose the Jason Peters trade gives an indication of value, but he was younger (28), cheaper and only had 2 years left on his deal.

Gross is one year into a six year extension, will be 30 next season and is not actually as good as people think he is.

Gross' real valuable to this team is being an incredible team player and leader whilst being a very good player. He also loves this team and the area and thus gave us a 'home team discount'. Ship him out after he did that for us and you really do risk losing the locker room, you can also forget about any player in the future giving us a home town discount.

If you disagree that is fine, but there is legit reasoning for why we would struggle to get a second round pick, as the new team would be on the hook for a 5 year deal that they might not like whilst also giving up premium compensation. Considering he also finished on IR and his below usual performance this season and you would be shipping him when his value is at it's lowest point.

Ok so I guess Moore played against a crappy Giant team, a crappy saints team, and a crappy Vikes team. What are you talking about. Vikes was not crappy when we played them. Stew was the first rusher to rush over a 100 yards in a long time against them. Giants D-Line wasn't crappy either

Your argument is flawed. Like I said Schwartz has talent, and he's huge. We have an o-line coach who's proved no matter how many injuries we have, he can get it done. And we need a receiver

i don't disagree with you in principle, but i don't think it would be that easy. Despite what we've seen the last three games, I don't think we have a legit starting option behind gross and i think we are quick to forget the years we went without continuity on the line. I agree we need WR help and I agree that our oline depth has shown great promise. But I am happier with a deep oline than i am with a second receiver who may or may not pan out. We got lucky this year with our depth, and i'm not so confident that we will be so lucky again, combine this with the fact that we have an extremely deep receiving corp, they just need someone to throw the ball to them and you can see why I see this as a sort of "bird in hand" scenario.
