I want him to stick it in her ear first

Maybe...

U.S. government agent Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, has saved the world time and again and been thanked for his efforts with any number of personal tragedies, including the death of loved ones. So it seemed natural that in the final seconds of his final show, he should face hardship -- again.

"(It) leaves him in a compromised place morally, ethically and emotionally," Gordon said. "This show is a tragedy, and to give Jack a happy ending didn't feel authentic."

But Gordon remained mum on the specifics of how Bauer meets his unhappy fate. Still, beyond the end one thing is certain, there will be more of Jack Bauer to come -- in movie theaters.

Season 8 began in January with Bauer preparing for a quiet life, playing with his grand-daughter and smiling for only the second time in the show's history. But within minutes, he was drawn back into action by the government, which needed help in foiling a plot to murder a Middle Eastern peace-keeper.

Since then, treachery, back-stabbing and a well-intentioned but misguided President Allison Taylor (portrayed by Cherry Jones) have landed Bauer back in hot water and the country in jeopardy. Will he save it?

Gordon's not telling, but he did promise this: The writers are "taking him to a place he's never been before."

Sounds to me like he is going to take out the Russian president and use his emotional attachment to Renee Walker and the political aspects from Hassan's death as the rationale behind it. Jack finally goes to prison and doesn't get to see Kim or his grand-daughter for a long time (seemingly). The finals seconds show Jack breaking out of prison setting up a nice background for the 24 movie.

Just a guess though.

Yea... I hope he goes to jail. This is the first time I am not really a big fan of Jack. He's become to hypocritical to me.

.... No you can't take president Hassan... even if it saves new york city.... She is the president and we take direct orders from her no matter what...

...After Renee dies... the president doesn't know what she's doing. I will violate direct orders from the president to get my revenge...even though her bigger picture is world peace...

It's been okay for Jack to kill innocent people to tie off lose ends... But when someone does the same it's different? Tells Cole earlier this season not to get personal... yet he is taking this personal.

Renee was just doing her job.... Yea the Secret Service agents you just killed were 100% innocent and trying to protect the country during their job...I guess them and their love ones don't matter...

If it wasn't for a 24 movie, I wish they would kill his ass at the end of the show... That's how I feel about the direction his character has taken.

I think with 24 they should have made Jack the bad guy in last season or two. After getting screwed by the gov so many times, his wife dieing, chinese prison, etc, it would have ruled. Jack as a bad guy would be unstoppable.

so pumped for Monday night.... can't remember if I heard it here or not but there are rumors that the 24 movie may not take place chronologically after the last season, meaning Jack could die in this last episode....

My prediction: Jack goes after Russian President. Somehow President Taylor learns of his intentions (probably via CTU- Ortiz finds Jack , and Chloe is unable to talk him down) and thus puts President Taylor in a sticky situation. She owns up to all of her mistakes and to knowing the Russian involvement in killing Hassan in an attempt to slow down Jack, and stop the bloodshed. Jack however is a man possessed and kills the Russian president anyway. The show ends with law enforcement people tackling him as the Russian president drops dead. Boom.

*Note I completely made this up and its kind of a weak ending....I'm hoping the 24 writers have one last great twist in them.....(Fingers crossed for a Nina feeling....fingers crossed for a Nina feeling)
