Writers picking sides in QB debate

Good luck with that then.

BTW who other then Jackson and Avery is even on the rams O. I can't name a single starter. So with a more porous Oline and same if not less receiver talent you expect to him to succeed where here he failed.

Their offensive tackle was the second pick in the draft last year. Kid out of Baylor. The other offensive tackle was the first rounder out of Florida State a couple of years ago. Delhomme could hold down the fort for a year or two while the QB they pick this year at the top of the second round learns how to be an NFL leader. Worked for Rodgers in GB and McNair in Houston.

Gantt is either in love with Jake, and I don't mean with the way he play's on sunday but in the bushes at panthers practice choking his chicken while Jake's doing his morning stretches or he's playing the bad cop role just to get people stirred up. A good example would be when he's on wfnz with Pacman, Pac plays good cop Gantt plays bad cop, he gets people all worked up and that makes for an entertaining show.

i also love how he uses QB rating for his argument (as we all know is useless and a pointless rating). he's essentially saying jake is up there with Joe Montana, Steve Young, Peyton Manning etc.

I agree with you Fox, that is a stat that is absolutely pointless, its unfortunate I am saying that because I am guilty of using the stat in articles that I have written. However, I agree with you that the stat is pointless because back in the 70s and the 80s we were not using the QB rating as a stat. I believe all that is just a popularity contest in the NFL, rating a QB on his proformance is just ridiculous. You either play well and win the game or you play poorly and lose the game. Gantt was also the guy who said that Peyton Manning would not be a good quaterback in the NFL. which is probably why he is writing for the Rock-Hill Hearld!

I hope my Rams get Jake. He's been David Carred in Carolina at this point. Get him a fresh start and his best qualities (leadership, poise) would do wonders for St. Louis.

Why would you want to get the worse starting QB in the NFL to replace the next to worse starting QB in the NFL (when they both were still starting)?

Does anyone remember when Gantt was revered on this board as the "only" carolina panthers beat writer.

Man, did he lose steam fast.

He now comes across as arrogant and biased. Unfortunate that he's taken this turn, becuase I used to enjoy reading his stuff with respect to the panthers.

Any team that signs Jake is going to catch much hell from the fans of that team.

He will be booed on his first INT anywhere, because they know whats coming next... another INT.

nah. Even Jon Kitna hasn't carried that over. As long as any team doesn't look at him as a long term solution, they should be fine.

Its Gantt's constant nut hugging of Fox and Jake along with his smug attitude that makes him an idiot. He acts as though everyone else is stupid and that his opinion is the best. Stating an opinion is fine. But doing it while pissing on everyone else's opinion is what I got a problem with.

yea

It's not the fact that he has an opinion it's the fact that it comes across as blindly supportive and at the same time arrogant against any opposing viewpoint.

"lunatic fringe"? Suck my dick.

Nah. Panthers fans accepted David Carr at first.

Nah, before Carolina Carr was 59/65 TDvs INT.

But in 5 years in Texas he was sacked a staggering 250 times. Most thought behind a compitent line he had potential. In the last 5 years Jake has been sacked 98 times. Delhomme does what he does on his own.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Fox and co. make/made things weird for the backup QBs behind Jake. Even before Jake had his most horrific season ever, all we ever heard about the backups when there was doubt about JDs play was "so and so doesn't know the system" or "so and so isn't ready" or "...doesn't know the plays".
