I think Fox is leaving

Richardson won't pay the guy he has but will risk letting him go so he can pay twice that to a new coach?

Fox would be making 6 million next season one of the highest paid coaches next season. If we picked up Cowher then he will want atleast that much. So Richardson would be on the hook for 12-13 million for a head coach. Get Fox to request out of his contract and Richardson saves $6 mil.

This. The only way this happens is if it's a mutual parting. And based on what I'm reading, that seems very possible. Fox seems ticked that he hasn't been offered an extension. Richardson seems to want Fox to prove he can break out of this 7-9 every other year rut he's had. Both men are very proud. Fox knows Jake's days are over and might want a fresh start somewhere else. Richardson knows his days are numbered and might think Cowher can get him a ring.

I think their saying cower would demand way more than 6 mill. 10 or more I believe.

Fox isn't terrible, but he sure isn't great. He's the epitome of mediocre, he's one of the longest tenored coaches that has never had back to back winning seasons. Yeah, I don't want to have to go through a rebuilding phase, but we will never be a consistent playoff bound team with Fox. I hope we don't hear the "One more year" bullshit, because we've seen plenty well what Fox is capable of. Fox is all about the fundamentals, and he knows how to come in and rebuild a team. As for having long term success, we haven't really seen that.

I just don't see the point of keeping Fox, unless the organization is satisfied with being a playoff team every other year. I feel Fox has peaked here in Carolina and it's time for him to hit the road. But hey, if we keep Fox, we're due to be good next year!

man i dont think fox is a "bad" coach.. i like the guy, but you cant deny the win lose win lose record he keeps. and you def cant deny the delhomme fiasco, so yeah i think he should go, but we need to make sure we get a coach that can keep up the carolina mentality of beating our opponents into the ground with the run. and having top notch defenses.
