I think Fox is leaving

from national football post

Panthers head coach John Fox is insisting that he’s either given an extension or is fired, but he doesn’t want to come back as a lame duck in 2010. Based on his team’s play the past three weeks, he might have a strong case for an extension.

this might warrant a new thread

bring back mccoy

that's terrible.

But seriously, I know the OP is trying to use a very basically informed position in the past to suggest he knows something now, and that doesn't seem to be the case. Plus, I think a lot of people are clinging onto some sort of hope that Fox will go, when I just don't think that's the case.

I could see that, with the expectation that he'd be next in line for HC if Coughlin retires (or is let go).

I know some NY blogger brought this up but there's really no viability to this. Guy isn't going to go from a $6 mil head coaching job to go back to a DC just because it's the Giants.

I'd be very surprised to see Fox leave. However, if I had to choose between extension or firing, I'd fire the guy. There's no way I'd be ready to extend him right now. If he's not willing to honor the contract that he signed, he can leave.

They're using Fox's ego against him. You fire him you have to pay him $6 mil if he request to resign or go somewhere else the Panthers are off the hook for the money.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jim Skipper as the Head Coach. He's sort of got head coaching experience and is the Assistant Head Coach.

I'd prefer him over Meeks, personally.
