I think Fox is leaving

In that situation there's still no reason to have him go. Carolina's not going to pay anything for a guy that won't be coaching, but isn't fired.

And no, he really won't go coach the Giants as a DC. Under Coughlin? Really? No way that works. And like I said he won't take a step back just to take a step. Guys who have major success at the head coaching level just don't go back to be coordinators. Martz and Turner are very specific exceptions.

You just like to argue. You dont know what he would do just like the rest of us. But we do know he likes the Giants organization so it is possible he would do that. Fox could get hired with any team with a opening this year with his track record. BTW Mora did it last year with the Seahawks.

Mora's not the sort I'd call successful. I think we're seeing the fruits of that with his current gig.

I don't know what he's going to do, but I feel what I'm saying is far more likely than any of the far fetched ideas being put out. He has to choose to leave at this point, and there's no logical reason in my opinion for him to take a step down.

All we can do is speculate, make what seems to be "reasonable" assumptions as to what JR's choices are, and what Fox's are.

I say that because NONE of us know how Fox's contract is worded, nor what should, or would happen in any given situation. Wording, clauses, out's and in's.....we don't have a clue.

Be it a buy out if Fox is given permission to look around, be it straight out firing, be it a renegotiation of his current contract if he wants to stay , or is he flat out quits.

We just don't have enough concrete evidence to anything other than speculate, hope, and dream.

Personally.....I don't think he is going anywhere, and he would be a fool to walk away from 6 million dollars, knowing full well he will be sought after whenever he does depart Carolina.

Let the speculating continue! :D :cheers2:

I agree with all of that. It's just that the way the Panthers worded his job security to the Observer, and the way Fox worded his response to it a day or two later, didn't sound like a mutual admiration society. It sounded like the defensive coaches last year, right before they all started taking other jobs out there.

Fox very well could be back. I stated all year long I thought 7-9 meant he was safe. It's just what we're not hearing that makes me think maybe Pat Yasinskas was right.

Well said electro.

You are right....Foxy will not walk away from $6million. However, our only hope is that some other owner is desperate enough to offer him a very good long term deal. Sounds like JR would let him go. Pther wise, he would have negotiated an extension during a down year....saving $. Yes, it is a dream.

he's safe, not stupid. People can't say "Fox has an ego, he wants security" and use "Fox doesn't have so much ego that he'll take a 5x paycut and a demotion to get it".

Head coaches do it all the time..... Dom Capers,Mike Mularkey, Norv Turner, Jim Mora, and the list goes on and on.

Mora wasn't successful. Nor Mularkey. Dom had one good year in eight.

So I'll reiterate. Successful coaches. Norv stayed on the west coast, so he had to take the 9ers job and people were shocked.

I am hoping Jerry Richardson is able to get some good draft picks for both Fox and Peppers as this process has just began. Maybe, the Panthers will be able to get at least one first round draft pick to get a good young talent at quarterback to compete with Moore along with at least one fast and talented wide receiver, a young run stuffing defensive tackle and a talented defensive end for the next head coach and general manager to work with. These possibilities are out there for sure. Fox sounds like a head coach on his way out and Peppers is wanting way too much money for his lack of consistent efforts from game to game.

After a while I think all coaches lose the locker room. Every analyst is saying; 'Wow, the players still played for Fox even though they had nothing to play for'. That's total BS. They played well because Moore was the spark. Fox has a MAJOR fault. He is too loyal to 'his guys'. Sticking with Delhomme literally threw the season away. For that, Fox needs to go. He will turn his next team into an instant contender. He's a great coach, but he's run his course here. Bring on Billick or Gruden (NOT COWHER). We're built to win now. Cowher will blow it up and start over. The D is great, the Offense needs a little kick in the rear....that'll be accomplished with Brian Billick or John Gruden.

Not sure why everyone says Fox is a great coach. Did he do a good job of rebuilding the team? sure, but really what has he done with the talent he has? Everyone does realize the panthers have a total of 3 winning seasons under fox right? 3 out of 8 years! Again, how is he so great?!

2002 7 9

2003 11 5 NFC Champions

2004 7 9

2005 11 5

2006 8 8

2007 7 9

2008 12 4

2009 8 8

Can someone tell me where this record screams great coach?
