Panthers coach is mum on his future

Sounds like he may take something better if it came along.

He would be crazy not to take a big contract somewhere else. With 2011 possibly having a lockout, and his contract being up before that season, I'm sure will play a factor. Of course, it looks like there will not be a lot of job openings this year as owners are weary of spending big this off season because of the labor issues. So Fox will surely tread carefully so he doesn't burn any bridges with the Panthers. From what I can tell, the Panthers management has treated John quite well, so I imagine Fox will do the same to them.

May have been answered elsewhere and if so, sorry b/c I have no desire to search due to a ridiculous headache. Anyways, in the very unlikely event Fox moves on, would we have to buyout the last year of his contract or would his new team?

Fox's new team would have to compensate (draft picks) the Panthers to let him out of his contract. Money wise I have no clue. Either Fox will waive the last year or it would be negotiated down. Let me research some.

Only case I can find is Grudens beinging traded to TB. TB paid $8 million in cash and 2 first round picks (02/03) and two second round picks(02/04). Cant see us getting that much for Fox. probably a first and second. Gruden was in his last year of his contract at the time.
