Local writers tip toeing around Jake...

Except that I saw with my own eyes that Williams couldn't pass block back then, so he was right about not being ready to start. We have been over this a thousand times already, but I guess hindsight is always right, huh?

he needed work in on aspects of his game.......he needed to start based on what we had on the field. that is the NFL. Matt Moore probably isn't ready to start....there are tons of things he needs to improve on.....but he needs to be the starter.

You're right, but I'd argue the timeline of him peaking was in 04 and 05 rather than 03.

Once Seattle figured out in the 05 playoffs he's very bad at progessions and he locks on to Smitty no matter how many defenders are around the riddle was cracked, in time loss of what mobility he had and now "Tommy-John" Delhomme is toast.

I was just about to post something like this. I thought that Seattle game truly exposed Jake. Too bad David Carr turned out to be a bum.

Yeah, Jake really sucked in 04 and 05. Somehow though, his numbers were actually above average.

IMO, it's the people that claim that Jake was never any good that are the dumbasses. Hell, some of those same people even praised Weinke because he once threw for over 400yds...never mind that he needed 50 passes to do it and that he threw 3 INT's and lost the damn game...along with every other game where he threw the ball more than 7 times.

in both 2004 and 2005 Jake developed his fatal flaw as a QB. The ability to only throw to one WR. Those were fantastic seasons by Moose and Smitty.....Moose made great plays on medicore throws and Smitty had somthing like 900 yards after the catch that year

yet Keary Colbert had over 750 yards in 04 and Ricky Proehl had right at 500 yards

...why do i bother :(

P55 just agreed Jake peaked 5 years ago.

Again more words inserted. His best season statistically was in 2004. With our system if the quarterback gets big stats, it isn't always a good thing. Warner peaked for St Louis in 1999 based on stats. Doesn't mean he is done though or couldn't play for another decade.

Hmm...Tom Brady must suck because he throws the ball to Wes Welker all the time then. There is a damn good reason why Delhomme was throwing to Smitty so much. I guess you wanted Delhomme to throw it to Drew Carter more though right?

stats never tell the whole story. Jake has struggled since 04. He was at his best in 03 but I discount even that a little as I believe Smitty's emergence caught plenty off guard. He has demanded coverage schemes since his first couple games in the 05 season.

He looked pretty good the games he played in during 07 before he hurt his arm.

There are too many facts and stats you guys have to ignore to make your "jake was only good in 2003" argument work. Give it up

I am sitting here trying to think of a player that could perform so god awful yet fans would want him to stick around.

Nope, can't think of one. Emotional attachments are a hell of a thing.

Financial attachments are even more of a hell of a thing. You seem the emotional one here. Anyone can plainly see that it makes no sense to get rid of him given we are on the hook either way. Only someone emotionally attached to getting rid of him at all cost would argue as you do.
