Local writers tip toeing around Jake...

 guys playing under Fox say a lot of things.....things that just happen to fall in line with what Fox is saying. Even Dan said in another thread Fox literally has his hand on EVERY single aspect of this team (and that was not implied as a good thing)....and that imo includes what guys share with the media.

Except that I saw with my own eyes that Williams couldn't pass block back then, so he was right about not being ready to start. We have been over this a thousand times already, but I guess hindsight is always right, huh?

P55 is under the impression that Jake has been something more than a mediocre QB in his career.

He peeked in 2003, average to very bad since.

This is the problem. Jake ain't Kurt Warner or Brett Favre, the ceiling isn't high for him.

And don't you mean "peaked" :D

Surely with Deshaun Foster's combination of running ability and pass blocking skills he went on to start and excel with another NFL team, right? Oh wait...

That has nothing to do with it, and neither does Delhomme's situation. You cannot be a starting RB in the NFL without being able to pass block. Some of you really need to start listening to these ex-coaches when they're calling NFL games. If you would do that, you would find that they will praise a RB more for his pass protection skills than they will for a good run. This is not something I just made up people, this is NFL football 101.

Zod like putting words in people's mouths to make them sound more extreme when he can't argue with logic. And his best season was in 2004. You would think someone who proclaims to know so much would know that basic piece of info.

what I don't get about foxlogic is that there seems to be no middle road. In spite of draft position, college career, or payroll pecking order if he likes you he will stand beside you and support you throughout what seems to be the abysmally hopeless tapering off period of your career. But if you get on his bad side, forget it. Opportunity over. Look for a different career.

Yeah, Jake was just as good in '04 as '03. Maybe better. '05 was almost as good but the team stayed healthy that year so he had more support around him. Before his elbow snapped in '07, he was looking as good as his peak years and was on pace for for a stellar season.

You say he peeked in 03 yet he had much better stats for several years following. That doesn't make much sense.

On a skill level Jake was always mediocre and he always had a turnover problem... but with that came a winning record and the ability to pull a big play out of nowhere. He's lost that magic and no longer has a winning record, so now we're just left with the other stuff...

I can understand not cutting Jake outright, but the idea that he would be the projected starter next year is ridiculous. Look how good this team has been without him.

Local reporters are hedging their bet so they don't end up on the outs with the Panthers. It's the same as when you're buddy breaks up with a girl - you don't want to say anything bad about her right away because they might get back together and then it would be awkward.

Yeah, Jake really sucked in 04 and 05. Somehow though, his numbers were actually above average.

IMO, it's the people that claim that Jake was never any good that are the dumbasses. Hell, some of those same people even praised Weinke because he once threw for over 400yds...never mind that he needed 50 passes to do it and that he threw 3 INT's and lost the damn game...along with every other game where he threw the ball more than 7 times.
