Local writers tip toeing around Jake...

It was the facts. If they are negative, it surely isn't something I contrived. I answered the question. If it was someone else besides me you wouldn't go at them as hard.

Take a break with the obsessions.

sure they are facts....but like I said if you take Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Brees and only play them next preseason with the 2nd units......it will show a drop off in performance from this season.

they are facts....meaningless facts that allow you to show your bias against Moore.

and there you go again......you get caught being silly....and then you accuse people of being obsessed with you. Nice.

Cutting Delhomme is like when we cut Foster, Wahle, and Rucker except we owe Delhomme an ass of money. They clearly weren't cutting it and played a year longer than they should have. Delhomme is the same way...

Cutting Delhomme will appease much of the fanbase and force Fox to properly evaluate the QB position. Win-Win IMO.

Not even close. Owing the ass of money is the issue. Cutting Delhomme is an incredibly stupid move at this point and anyone with a modicum of insight would see it immediately. Those who don't are filled with doubt and fear. Fear Jake isn't done, and doubt that Matt will win the job on his own merit. Fox won't blindly pick Jake without pulling the plug almost immediately given the option Moore gives him. They won't make a business decision based on fan sentiment either, thank goodness. Most of the time fans don't have a clue except for what they are told.

How is getting rid of someone who are paying anyway months before a decision is even needed a smart logical decision.

Lets hear some more of you emotionally laden criticisms of Jake packaged as a logical debate.

Paying was a mistake but throwing him away at this point just compounds the error.

There is no postive to keeping him.....the money was wasted....keeping him doesn't make it less wasted. See with Jake you don't have to use flawed game circumstances to judge him on......he is no longer an NFL QB. Only emotion has people wanting him to stay......

Are you completely delusional? Did you not see the Fox and Jake relationship this year.

Of course it's fear Jake isn't done. You keep spouting this line off like it means something when you take in the amount of money the franchise stupidly gave to him.

They will want to make that decision not look so stupid. When you add past history, "just one bad season" hopefulness and the fact that they're comfortable with Jake.. yes, it's fear that "open competition" will be a loaded situation and Jake will do just enough in camp to come out the starter, never mind that he killed the playoffs in 2008 and the season in 2009. I mean, I'm sure 2010 will be different!!1 Remember 2004!

Moore should have already won the job on his own merit, just by not making dumbass throws and losing games for us.

Fear is a big reason. It is a big reason because people don't trust John Fox. No one trusts Fox for giving Jake the start again without competition after the Cardinal debacle and for sticking with Jake so long. I think people, including myself, fear that Fox will start Jake even though he isn't the better QB. Also, I/we fear that it will f*** up the team chemistry and anger some of our players while killing our 2010 season. Remember Fox said this...

(If Jake finger sidelines him, would taking a break be good for him?): I think with a broke finger, he’s going to get a little time away from it. If his finger wasn’t an issue, I couldn’t with a straight face make a change just to him.

You think a coach who says that would objectively view the QB position or put a shorter leash on Delhomme IF he is picked as starter? Delhomme being starter would kill team morale like no other. Fans would riot like crazy and it would put a HUGE amount of pressure on Jake to perform great...and we know how he performs with pressure on him...I think it would be best to avoid all of this mess and just let him go. I don't think anyone else would pick him up. I understand what you're trying to say, but I just don't trust Fox to make the right call so why not just take that option out of his hands.

No, the issue is not accepting the reality of the situaion. The money was flushed down the drain. That happens in this league.

There is nothing to suggest Fox won't blindly pick Jake. Jake would be starting today if healthy.

Have you noticed? The local beat writers are doing their best to walk a tightrope and not say anything discouraging against Jake. Wonder why?

Example: http://www.heraldonline.com/news/sports/story/1834649.html

You know you are right Zod. I don't live in the Charlotte-area or anything but I have been reading online where guys like Sorensen, and Gantt have been defending Delhomme despite everything.

In the 2008 preseason, he finished 35 out of 65 for 53.8% completion rate for a paltry 6 yards per attempt with 0 TDs and 3 Ints for a rating of 52.7.

What is there to collaborate?

he was throwing to 2nd teamers at best the majority of the time. most of the guys he was throwing to aren't even in the league. with the exception of a little while in the 1st preseason game, he never threw to the starters. in fact he threw once to moose and hoover and twice to smith and that was the only time he got to throw to any starters. he targeted 14 different players. 6 players are still on the team (soon to be 5 after jarrett is gone). the rest of the time he was throwing to the like of toefield, travis taylor, d. thompson, chris hannon, upshaw, birmingham, flemming. how many of those names do you remember and how many have you seen on teams rosters lately?
