Here's an incredible John Fox stat

how about if he could win in the months before and win in december. what a radical idea! how about not rallying the troops after we are out of it but before that and all season long. some of you act like john fox is god! eventually he will leave one day. as a franchise we will be fine. coaches go and come just like players.

what i think speaks more than anything else about john fox situation is that he wasnt offered a extension this year. if he is such a great coach and top 3 coach, why wouldnt jr want to lock him up for the next couple of years? cba or no, good coaches dont grow on trees.

but they talked about this on the radio in the morning. the guy asked if john fox would stay and he said yes. he mentioned that there are way better coaching candidates for any open jobs now and also he would be walking away from 5 mill. he mentioned that no other team would offer him a better offer. to get that amount you would have to be better than a mediocre coach, you would have to be a superbowl winning coach.

Do you know how statistics work? You can't just "throw in" numbers that don't exist in order to boost your argument. You can't throw in extra losses because such losses haven't happened. That's the whole point of this thread. We've lined 7 opponents up in meaningless games under Fox and we've knocked all 7 down.

That wasn't the point of my post; the point was that if just one loss occurs then it starts becoming quite close to the percentage you are in love with.

Why am I the enemy for finding a very interesting stat and trying to figure out the reasons behind it?

Your posts are generally good, despite any negativity, but this one just seems to be hovering on a stat that doesn't really say anything bad (yet you are trying to make it that way). So, you're angry he doesn't do well the rest of the season but does well in December? Maybe it has something to do with the other teams rather than the Panthers? Hell, maybe more to do with the players and not the coach? Just maybe...

My biggest pet peeve on the Huddle is when people don't read important posts earlier in the thread. Please read my post that broke down the seven teams. One was a weak opponent, two were resting starters, four were at .500 or better and were fighting for either playoff berths or higher playoff seeds.

And I just LOVE how I include all wins and losses and all teams no matter their record and no matter whether it helps my argument or not, yet you excused away game after game after game for whatever ludicrous reason you wished.

I thought you were just throwing the numbers out there? Sounds like you have an agenda maybe?

His all-time coaching record is 70-57. Pretty good huh?

However, people have been saying that Fox pads his wins once his teams have been eliminated from the playoffs so his seasons don't look so bad. So I went back and determined the exact week the Panthers from eliminated from the playoffs in '02, '04, '06, '07, and '09 to compare Fox's record when he's still alive for a playoff berth compared to when he's been eliminated. Here's what I found out.

2002

Before elimination: 5-9

After elimination: 2-0

2003

Alive the whole way: 11-5

2004

Alive the whole way: 7-9

2005

Alive the whole way: 11-5

2006

Before elimination: 6-8

After elimination: 2-0

2007

Before elimination: 6-9

After elimination: 1-0

2008

Alive the whole way: 12-4

2009

Before elimination: 5-8

After elimination: 2-0

Total

Before elimination: 63-57

After elimination: 7-0

So our bad non-playoff teams have actually gone 7-0 after they've been eliminated since Fox has been here and have a great chance at going 8-0 next week.

So Fox's mediocrity is easy to see PRE-elimination: His regular season winning percentage is only 52.5% pre-elimination.

However, once his teams are eliminated, his winning percentage shoots up to ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. There is nobody I'd want more than John Fox at coaching my team in meaningless games.

Let there be no doubt: John Fox is an absolutely average coach in every way that is a MASTER at getting his guys to play hard in games that are glorified preseason games.

Would you prefer him to start the season well and blow it at the end?

It shows a great coach to be able to fire up a team who has no chance at making the playoffs and get them to go out and win consistently.

Those games show how much heart our players have and hopefully that will carry into next season.

First off, your "reasons" are laughably wrong.

A 7-7 '06 Atlanta team fighting for their playoff lives was a great win. They were not a crappy team.

The Falcons were 2-7 in their last 9 games. The Saints were 3-6 in their final 9 games. That's 5-13 and you call them quality teams? Also, you somehow forgot about the Bears. They were also 2-7 in their final 9 games. So the record of the teams Fox somehow miraculously beat was 7-20. Is beating teams with that record really so hard to explain?

I also see you conveniently leave in this years' games even though the wins are easily explained with a change in QB's. If Jake was still playing and the Panthers were winning like they are, then I would say you might have an argument. But he isn't so I don't see what the big deal is.

All I see is your dislike/hate for Fox filling your comments with prejudice.
