Just how BAD is Bryce Young?

The verdict is out but it's not looking like he'll justify going #1. If we would have picked him in the 2nd round people would say he's pretty good and got potential but he's a rookie on a very bad team. I feel like he's a victim of his draft position at the moment.

When you trade 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and your best offensive player for the pick, you’re not a victim of draft position, you just have to live up to that trade regardless.

Bryce will be an ok player. But just that -- An ok player. While CJ and Richardson will be great players. We took the worst of the 3 QBs.

fug I wish we could have waited and gotten Caleb Williams next year.

Yep, this will be one of those decisions by our front office that we will look back on for the next 10 years and say how did we blow that.

I can only hope that we don't use the S2 test as our top criteria for picking a QB next time...

This was before Andy threw for 350 in Seattle with the same weapons

Why it isn't the acceptable choice by many. Sitting Bryce is not a bad idea. Admitting he isn't ready to be a NFL starting QB is not bad. Gives him time to learn. We got him for 5 years. By year 3 he should be leading this team. Right now, he is nowhere near ready.

It's honestly not Bryce fault he was picked 1st. It's the fault of our scouting dept, Gm, etc. They are the ones that need to take the fall. If Bryce can potentially turn into a solid NFL QB then we need to at least set him up for success and give it a chance. I'm not sure what other option we have at this point. Not saying it doesn't suck though. I was always a Stroud guy. It's going to be rough for a while it appears.

Tua looked like hot garbage his rookie year.

i still believe in Bryce. Hes in a shitty situation

Yea, and he was so bad that they had the 6th pick in the draft and took Waddle, then they went out the next offseason and traded for Tyreek.

Not to mention they have one of the best offensive minds in the league right now.

The two situations are not remotely close to being comparable as we don't have that coach, we don't have that draft pick next year, and we don't even have our draft assets to try and trade for a Tyreek.

Just saying its way too early to really come to conclusions on Bryce. Fitterer has really did this team an injustice by having this half ass roster

    • See my post edit above, he certainly hasn’t had that lockdown/on an island type of effect. Josh Norman has that type of effect for a couple years with us and I’ll be honest that I haven’t felt like that for Horn yet. Looking at his 2024 stats (https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/jaycee-horn/83375#seasonStatsWidget) doesn’t scream top QB. I think he’s good but I cringe a little when I hear he’s elite when healthy since his most healthy year was when we set a record for points against.
    • Our defense hasn't been elite. That doesn't mean that an individual player hasn't been. All an elite CB can do for your defense is greatly limit the other team's best receiver or greatly limit the passing success to his side of the field if he's a zone guy. There's still a lot of opportunity for the opposing team elsewhere.  I'm not saying he's a Luke or a Peppers. He's not. But I think he's a top 10 CB when healthy. I consider a top 10 CB to be elite. If you have a different definition, that's fine. I'm not gonna really argue where we draw that line or even if you think Horn is saying top 15 instead of top 10. Again, fine. Not really gonna argue that either. All I'm really trying to argue is that Horn is pretty damn good when he's on the field.
    • I'm not saying there's not a place for him here. I'm saying we massively overpaid for his skill set in today's NFL. Both statements can absolutely be true.
