Fox, Jake, Peppers, Moving on

A lot of you keep saying "Hooray Mediocrity".. but that couldn't be further from the truth. Over the past 7 years of Fox's tenure.. we have been an elite team overall. Yes, we have had some mediocre seasons.. but overall, we are not a mediocre team. I have already proved that we have been one of the most successful teams in the NFC of the decade. This is an undeniable fact.

There's more to success than what your record is. Does Fox have a good record? Sure. Has he been a constant success? Nope. Fox is a great coach. It's just time for a change. It happens. He can't stay here forever. This isn't Florida State or Penn State.

Yeah but they will want to conserve some cash if there is a lockout. Last time I remebered a strike in the NFL was in 82. I know the NHL had one in 2002 or 2003 season where they didnt play. But in 82 the teams still played with scrubs. If there is a lockout I wouldnt be surprised if the teams did that again ( If they can).

The reason you pay Peppers so much for a year is because it is still cheaper than a long term contract unless he can stay at this level for 5 more years. And if 2011 is a lockout, there is no salary. You know that 2010 will be the last year without a contract as we wouldn't franchise him 3 years in a row. But by then he will 33 and won't be worth more than a 3 year deal for perhaps 30 million. If you add up that deal and what we spent on franchising him for two years it is still less than the deal he turned down last year, 67 million versus 90 million. He will be 33 going into 2011 and not worth a huge contract. We will have had his best years and saved money in the process.

Has any team ever tagged a player in back to back years? And for what would be close to 40 mill for 2 year's. Thats just crazy!

Actually Seattle franchised Walter Jones three times in a row- for what seemed like a huge amount of money at the time. Jones gave up and signed a long term contract.

Umm by next training camp peppers will be 32. He is already 31 years ole right now. Where you been at.

I didn't look it up so I shaded on the conservative side. Your comment actually reinforces my point.
