DeAngelo Williams.....

I can see why he is so beloved in Memphis

I said in the preseason all I wanted was for him to get a shot to show what he could do. He got that shot and he certainly made the most of it. I couldn't be happier for him. I just love the one/two punch the Panthers have going on right now!!

i'll be honest...after his first two years i thought he was majorly over rated. i'm glad that i can say i was wrong...WAY wrong on this cat. i swear he reminds me a lot of barry sanders. i think barry was the best running back BY FAR to ever play so that's high praise. he's showing phenomenal vision, speed, shiftiness, acceleration, stiff arms, power...i could go on and on.

For some reason our coaching staff doesn't believe he is. He barely got any touches through the second half...

I noticed Stewart was getting more carries in the second half. Williams just looked like the better runner today overall and I wanted to see him carrying the ball more. Exept for that one play, I dont think Stewart was getting the yards like Williams was. I hope in the playoffs when Williams is running like that, they just keep giving him the ball.

Here is the deal, right now he is the best back in the league, but he's made a lot of improvements since last year. He's more assertive in hitting the hole, when last year he would pull up and be taken down for little or no gain. On long runs he's finishing where he might have slowed down in the past. He still needs to improve his open field running but that's a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things. That's not to say you were wrong in your convictions AK, most of us knew his potential but were unsure of him being able to put it all together.

Agreed . . . I like Stewart, but D.Will should have been in a lot more. I wonder if Foxy is getting stubborn about which back "should" be the starter.

I think it was more about getting Stew involved in the game and resting Dwill. He got his 1500. No sense in banging him up. But it did put the game in jeopardy a little bit.

dwill is the sh*t

Yup, judging a guy when they don't have enough chance to show what they're capable of.

Yep and thankfully we have him along with our best WR in team history at the same time. Those are two dynamic game-changers or homerun hitters. Throw Stew in as well and we are beginning to witness first-hand the change of the NFL how teams are shifting to the "new" dominating backfields. If we can make a good showing this post season and be a contender next year, the draft will have been a huge success on a medium risk gamble.

c'mon man, cut some slack. i'm admitting i was wrong (gladly wrong, however).

dwill had quite a few opportunities to show what he was capable of but didn't start taking advantage of all of that until Vinny had a good talking to him. he's now living up to his potential and we get to enjoy the excitement.

    • Sure, he's said that, but what it really means is that he's just going to insist on being a two way player and the Jags want him as such. But he won't be a starter who plays every snap on both sides in Week 1, if at all during his rookie year.  This is the NFL, no rookie, no matter how good they might be, is going to be able to go through their first mini and training camps while splitting time on both sides of the ball and be ready to be a week 1 starter and go full time both sides. And if a team does that, then they're dumb. I think their plan is to start him mainly on offense to give Lawrence another weapon, and I'm guessing it means he'll be a rotational CB early in the season, maybe he comes in when they go to nickel, even if he then plays the outside and someone else shifts inside.
    • Keep the peddle to the mettle the devils are gassed
    • YAC isn't the only way to be a threat. Thielen's ADOT was 11 yards last year. He's stressing a defense beyond its first level. Renfrow's 2023 ADOT was 5.6 yards. He's settling into a soft spot under a zone and the defense bets that they can rally and tackle before he gets to the marker. That kind of popgun slot receiver play is fine, but we should hope to be able to find that ability in someone who can also bring another skill, whether that's a vertical threat, or some jet sweep/screen game YAC  ability, or even just being very large and blocking well. Every time we trot Renfrow out there, we limit what the defense has to worry about.
