What will happen in an uncapped year… in terms everyday Panthers fans will understand

Another thing I thought about recently...

It would be a prime year to sign/extend people to contracts that are front loaded in the first year to allow for the uncapped season, and then drop down to normal levels on additional years... Players could get paid big bucks at a time where a team wouldn't have to worry about a spending limit... There might be a rule for this though, but I haven't found it...

DWill, Pep, and Beason would all be prime examples of players we could do this with while the time was right...

Of course, there is always the threat of a work stoppage and no football in 2011, but with so much money involved in the sport as a whole, I doubt you'd see that...

I agree-- there is more money to be LOST than made with a lockout- Neither the players, or owners want to deal with it.

i WOULD say the owners hold the upper hand (as they should) and will force a rookie salary cap, and other issues while getting a new deal within the next 15 months.

The players wont want a shutout, and with the UFL, the owners know they have a replacement bank to grab players from.

I remember the last strike/lockout= it sucked.

Richardson is a huge driving force in this whole thing, thats something I think is getting overlooked..

Mark my words there will be no lockout.

These NFL players certainly aren't going to doing anything else.

I have close to no doubt an agreement will be met. Before it becomes an issue.

I do not agree. I put the chances at 50/50 right now and I'm willing to bet Bigcat has similar concerns. And if anyone would know the current situation brewing, it would be him.

I tell you what, as bad as an uncapped year would be for the NFL as a whole, it would be near perfect for the Panthers opportunity to bring back and probably improve their already pretty damn fine defensive unit.

This... and lock up DWill until the end of his career... We can have him and Stewart for the entirety of their NFL years if we choose to and play it right...

I agree with everything you say but the Jason Campbell thing. Campbell is at least 1/4 the problem in DC.

Go Panthers

haha.. at least I have changed it to wanting Moore to be the starter... AND I removed the Campbell pic!

I'd still love to bring him in... Our views of him are just different, that's all...

...and in a capless season, I doubt we'd bring him in anyways, as he'd make more than his risk is worth somewhere else...
