Lucas gets burnt just as easily as everyone else in the secondary. Unless it is a quick throw to Gamble (where he got his recent hype), Gamble gets abused just as easily. The DL and pass rush was a concern going in this year.......and it is showing in our secondary play. The scheme also doesn't help. A huge cushion given to WR w/ plenty of time to run and get open........how do you expect anybody to cover them.

I've noticed usually when we give a large cushion the recievers usually run long developing routes, in the slot or just off of the tackle we usually play alot closer and the routes the recievers run usually fits into that theory

Panthers need to make CB the priority in the draft this year.

It's the lack of pressure on the QB from the middle of the pocket. Lewis is not getting it done, so the WRs have time to run deep. This puts Lucas in a trailing postion, many times with his back to the QB. The fact is that our cover 2 defense has soft spots, the only question is whether or not the WRs have time to get to them. Cover 2 defense is not very good unless you have an excellent pass rush. Lewis sucks at pushing into the middle of the pocket, so Gamble and Lucas are going to get burned from time to time. Want it to stop? Bring in a DT like Jenkins. It's stops. Mystery solved.

Lucas is better closer to the WR.

yup.... luc hasn't been playing great but he's a bump n' run corner and for the life of me i can't understand why Turdo is forcing him to play such soft coverage.

They don't want to throw toward Chris Harris and Chris Gamble. They know Harris is a problem. They're playing it safe. Thus Lucas gets burned. He's gonna have to prove he's no punk. He's gonna have to man up and get some INT's.

Defensive line can make a CB look great.

Increased pressure will help the Secondary.

Lucas is a bump in run CB, so the soft zone doesnt help him one bit.

i think they play so far off of recivers because they didn't have great safety help over top. I mean godfreed is a rookie and harris coverage is not the best (he's getting better though) and as everyone says fox is conservative and has a bend don't break defense so he won't play them up as close just in case they get past cornes and safety is out of position. add that to lack of pressure by d line on some play and we are left wide open for an attack. but we'll get better each game with everyone getting more comfortable with system (read fox added to defense) that's just mu opinion though.

i'll be honest; i'm not up on my physics enough to debate about the laws of thermodynamics. i'm guessing you're not either however and that you're just blabbering something you heard someone else say (most likely erroneous). i love how religious people try and use science to prove their hypothesis yet discredit science when it doesn't suit their argument.
