OK lets talk defense.

My biggest problem with our approach (bend don't break) is that it lends to fatigue and late game breakdowns. I can only hope they tighten up in the playoffs.

They have been doing this for years. It seems the coaches rarely let this D play to its potential. That bend philosophy leaves them on the field way too long, they tire in the 4th qtr...then they break. I do not understand wht Fox likes about this.

Philosophical choice.

Fox seems okay with giving up yards as long as they don't give up points. And if they do give up points, he's still okay as long as it's only field goals. T'would seem that the emergence of the offense has allowed him to be more comfortable in this approach.

Me? I still hate it :(

They need to simplify this sh*t again. Defense doesn't have to be complex to be effective.

Simplicity works well in the early part of the season but tends to weaken the defense as teams watch game tape and observe tendencies. Now that we have given teams a little more film to work with, simplification might actually work in our favor (to throw our opponents off.)

Really, the complexity of our defense should be tailored to how comfortable Godfrey is. He is the "weak link" in our secondary, simply because of his inexperience at the position. I think Lucas' issues have been because he is trying too hard to cover for Godfrey's miscues, sometimes even when they aren't there. It would also be helpful if we had some sort of pass rush from our front four, but we are just going to have to deal with that (or rather, without it) for now.
