That miles’ contract isn’t going to impact our salary cap or limit us from signing any big deal players.  His highest cap hit (2 years from now) won’t even be 5% of the total cap. To be fair… it prolly will be around 2.5% at that point in time.

yeah, that's generally how it has historically been justified.  Well, maybe this one contract isn't smart but it's just one.  When you consistently do it (which we do).....it flat out eventually impacts you.  It's not about Sanders in a vacuum.  It's about a franchise that consistently does it with players.  Miles is an example. 

So when you overpay Sanders, Ian Thomas, Robbie Anderson and all sorts of role players.....it all starts adding up and taking up more and more pointless cap space.  Because you can find guys that fill those roles for dirt cheap.   Then, with great management of the roster.....you might can get away with being stupid on a Brian Burns.

The one thing fantasy football has done I think that has really hurt RB contracts is break down all the metrics of that position into excruciatingly painful detail including who tends to get hurt most (RBs), the usage vs injury, and at what point to expect the drop off. Guys like CMC, Saquan, Bijan have very unique skillsets that let them do more than the average back, but injuries still bite more often at the RB position than any other. There really are no more bell cow backs in the NFL anymore with only a couple of exceptions. It's just a sad fact that these guys take an obscene amount of punishment on often very low paying contracts vs other positions, and one injury and their career is over. James Robinson comes to mind. It's just all come down to numbers.

You are missing the point. Miles is not an overpay. If you look at % of cap… this year is the most expensive he will ever be because the cap yearly growth. You can’t bucket miles with Robby bc his contract is nothing like his bc of the TCV. 
 

if you want to propose miles contract is similar to what Robby’s was… we would have to sign 3 more Miles’s….

yeah i don't think that some people actually realize just how good that Philly O-L was last year or still is for that matter...& then we or better yet let's say Scott Fitterer simply overpaid a mediocre  Rb this year as a result of it

Whole rush attack looks limited due to lack of run lanes. That's not a Miles issue. That's an offensive issue.
