Cowher has made it clear he wants to coach in 2010. Seeing how Fox now has the opportunity to coach next year (he does have the option of turning that down), it's apparent that Cowher will not our future coach. I can't understand the 'whole coaching staff' bit here. While I agree that Meeks should be retained, the OC and STs' need to vbe evaluated. I think this is a bad move, dominated by money only. This may end up costing us a lot more than a few mil to honor Fox's contract for next season. I sure as heck won't be able to sell 2 of my seats with Fox coming back.

Kind of skewed isnt since most of them haven't been head coach's that long. Compare apples to apples and its a different story.
this kind of gives you an idea of what teams are looking for. HC pedigrees aren't really a selling point. most teams are going for the unproven HCs. if you are a retread, chances are you aren't going to be getting a job no matter what you have done. most teams are going to be looking for someone fresh.

this has been proven over and over the past few years. only a very small portion of the jobs that open up go to the experienced head coaches.

of those experienced HCs who are available, fox really doesn't stand out that much.

We need a new ST coach no doubt! I'm glad that Jeff Davidson will be back however. I think Moore's skill set has allowed Davidson to be a little more aggressive.

More than one fox in the henhouse?

Richardson fires Fox and he is on the hook for $6 mil + new coaches salary.

Richardson announces Fox and Co. will be back but as a lameduck with no extension and with several new and juicy career options in both the NFL and college popping up. Discretely lets Fox's agent know that if Fox receives an offer he likes in the near future he can get out of his contract with Panthers. Fox finds that opportunity and the security of a 4+ year contract and bolts. Richardson gets the both of best worlds and can move ahead.

but Cowher yells at people, and fox doesnt thus cowher>fox

Nope Fox is the best coach ever man.

I mean as long as you are better than the Lions and Raiders you're a keeper here in Carolina.

Even though the Lions, Raiders, and Panthers won't be making the playoffs we are better than those other teams and that makes us happy.

Best non playoff team ever award goes too......

I really hope this is the case.

You're getting the wrong idea. Fox was given the option to stay for his final year or walk. Basically the Panthers are saying you're out after next year we won't extend you. Fox may decide to go with a long term deal with another team such as the Bills. In which case we will more than likely strike a deal with Bill Cowher.

It's not like we are extending Fox for another 5 years.

Patriots didn't make the playoffs last year. Bill Bellicheat is such a terrible coach.
