More than one fox in the henhouse?

Richardson fires Fox and he is on the hook for $6 mil + new coaches salary.

Richardson announces Fox and Co. will be back but as a lameduck with no extension and with several new and juicy career options in both the NFL and college popping up. Discretely lets Fox's agent know that if Fox receives an offer he likes in the near future he can get out of his contract with Panthers. Fox finds that opportunity and the security of a 4+ year contract and bolts. Richardson gets the both of best worlds and can move ahead.

This is my dream scenario.

RE: Cowher... he's a great coach, and would probably be an upgrade over Fox, but don't expect an instant turnaround.

First...let me say, I am not on the Cowher bandwagon. This team does not need a turnaround....it just needs a competent coach who plays to win...the entire season....every season.

I can deal with Fox returning for maybe one more season. Maybe he'll realize his old school bullpoo doesn't work anymore and actually try different things like in the Giants game.

Fox has not shown the willingness/ability to adjust in all the years he has been here. Doubt he is suddenly going to see the light.

The offense really has not looked like a typical "Fox Offense" in the last two games. I can't remember it being like this since... well, maybe since the 2003 playoffs or maybe... 2005 was it? can't recall... either way, it's been a long time since we've had this constant threat of a vertical attack...

An experienced coach, who has a team with the potential shown the past 2 games, who has a team that plays like sh#t until week 15, is not a competent coach.

With JR having close ties with the other owners and players union, this tells me that the negotiations for a new CBA are expected to get nasty with a lockout very very possible in 2011.

For those who are already giving up on the Panthers next season you may want to rethink that. It may be the last football you see played for a while.

That sounds pretty logical...but I hope you are wrong.

If Fox does end up coaching this team next year...I hope Jerry gives him the rules and regulations of the game to follow.

Sources?

The return of the general manager and coaches could be a reward for upset victories the last two Sundays of Minnesota and the New York Giants.

Are you serious??? I mean really....

The other 13 games didn't really happen....But what happens if the Saint's mop the field with us this week do we forget these 2 games .

I will say this if Fox is brought back I will be selling my season tickets next year.

Let me know I might buy them. ;)

I had a bad feeling about this. Its cause the CBA is up and there are uncertain things. No one likes this but Fox will be back and IMO he will do well just like his track record suggests. Moore will be our QB and Peppers will get the tag once again. I dont like it but we are gonna have to deal with it.

Without an extension, I think there is a chance that Fox will bolt. Trgo did this last year.....even though he was not fired. Also, there was a mass exit of Panthers coaches last season and I don't think any of them were fired....they left on their own. Fox is a good coach, and there will be openings in about 1-week.

The guys on ESPn brought this up...that the offer may be "we dare you to leave" and that Fox may well do something (Buffalo was mentioned as a possibility) AND that cowher was still a possibility.

The one thing RE: Cowher... Doesn't he run a 3-4 exclusively, or am I incorrect? The reason I didn't imagine him having instant turnaround is that fact...

We're a team close, but I don't know how quick it'd be. I could still see Fox leaving after this season with no job security. We'll see.

If Fox bolts for another job this offseason, he leaves 6 million on the table. His new job offer would have to be really juicy for him to do that and with the possible lockout on the horizon, I doubt any NFL teams will sign him to a long term deal at a good salary.

Why not? Have you seen the other candidates out there? Fox would be a popular pick for just about any franchise switching coaches this year. He is still widely perceived as a successful coach. Which is the only reason I did not get on the fire Fox bandwagon until late November, I'm not sure the grass is any greener on the other side. That's the beauty of this strategy, it is a win/win.

and $6 mil in a single year lame duck contract with a team he's been up and down with his entire career vs. a 4-5 year contract for $5-6 mil/year? He would be a fool not to jump.

how do you figure that? fox's motto is players dont lose there spots due to injury. see charles godfrey.

that's not really a fair comparison, lol. Godfrey has played pretty well the last few weeks, too... and this is NOT the first time Moore has played well for this organization.... I'd be surprised if Jake came in as the starter.
