Steve Smith gets shout out in MMQB

Dude just broke his arm, but STILL wanted to play in this week's game despite there being little to nothing to play for and our fans want to trade him and some go as far as to call him a diva. What's wrong with this picture?

It depends on your definition of Diva. He's pretty borderline IMO. He has all the qualities of a diva except the part about being a bad teamate/unecessary drama. He always puts this team first and never throws anyone under the bus(even though I'm sure he wanted to do it to JAke this season).

He might not be as physically gifted as Randy Moss but IMO he's a better receiver.

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Steve Smith

Randy Moss

in that order. If he had played with a Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, or even a Matt Schaub in his career he'd be regarded as the best receiver in the league. I hope he's got a lot left in the tank because the guy is incredible.

Here is the best thing of all..

When it happened I cringed...they replayed it and my wife cringed..then she says:

"And Jake Delhomme is on Injured Reserve with a broke finger?" "Smith just caught the ball, broke away, scored a touchdown, landed on the broken arm, was helped up by a teammate who grabbed the broken arm, and he just calmly walks off the field"....yeah - Jake is done.

And she doesn't watch football all that much..

Kind of stuck with me.

Be careful you might wake up the Jake lovers that had been so welcoming silent.

What kind of logic is this??

One has nothing to do with the other. Smitty is on IR and won't play this week. Jake is on IR for rest of season. Smitty gets up and walks off the field because he broke his arm and Jake played after his finger was broken.

Both are tough players. Most quarterbacks have to be to deal with the beating they suffer every week. If Fox wanted Jake to play he would be out there slinging the ball. Do you want Jake out there throwing the ball? Jake is sitting as much because he stank it up as he can't play due to injury.

These situations aren't remotely related at this point.

I'm not convinced his finger is as bad as they say. Could just be a way to save face. Just my opinion.

I'm sorry but QB's don't take beatings at all... if you breath on them wrong flags are thrown. they get hit good probably 3 times on average in a game. Lineman take the biggest poundings and still go out there with broken everythings and play. QBs are borderline kickers and punters nowadays, not football players. It's not their fault, its Tom Brady's... ok it's the league's fault for wanting to protect Tom Brady, but still, treat the QBs like football players for god's sake...

Jackofalltrades said otherwise, since he confirm it's really broken. I doubt they would bench Jake to save face. They bench him for a day to both McCown & Moore against the Eagles and Jake was fine, wasn't he? There you go.

Anyway, great article on Smitty. Glad we have the most toughest WR ever in NFL. It suck Hurney don't want Smitty to play next week, but chance are his injury could be even worse if he play & someone tackle him hard on that broken arm. Not worth risking it with how we're not going to the Playoffs anyway.

I really wish he could get an 18-yd catch next game just to break 1,000. He deserves it.

I know I am torn about this as well. Maybe we could design a few plays for him to try and reach 1000 and then take him out. I suppose we don't have to officially say if he's out for the game. We could just decide not to play him.

But I also don't want him getting hurt out there. Smitty loves the stiff arm, and his is broken I wouldn't want him to try anything crazy out there. I want the best cast ever made on his arm if he plays.

I think Andre and Steve are the best. Put Steve on the Cardinals and he would blow Fitzgeralds numbers away. Larry has the best opportunity to succeed out of all of them and he doesn't really outperform the rest of the best WR in football.

I wish he could play this last week. Just get his 1k yards and call it a season.

LOL with the sounds of it. He prob would if they let him..... When he got his and held his hand I thought it was a stinger cause most players dont get up with broken bones. Smiths Threshold for pain is unworldly.
