Two moments that told me how much confidence the coaches had in Moore

oh so it's a completely incomprehensible contradictory post which can't be deconstructed because like some drunkenly assembled voltron none of the pieces fit together and therefore provides protection from dissection

a very bold strategy

we need to sign all QBs and draft another one but we're sitting pretty maybe i dont know we need i think jake but only if he takes a pay cut

To bad Candid Camera isn't still around.......you would make excellent material for sure.

The problem I see and it a couple of things.

1. Jake is going to cost $13 million to cut. Can we trade him very doubtful. We could cut him after June 30 and split his cap hit (thats if we have a cap next year). Or we bring him back for next season.

If you bring Jake back you will have Jake, Moore and then a third QB now I know I dont want it to be a rookie QB. I would much prefer a decent veteran (Pennington). So unless we carry 4 qb's or cut Jake I dont see us getting a rookie.

Yeah, it'll be the third string QB. Either keep McCown or raise Cantwell up. If we're at the point where whoever is playing we're screwed anyways.

however, if you're serious about moore, but not fox, you bring in a coach who feels the same. people were hysterical when the chargers signed norv turner, but it's no coincidence that they brought one of the greatest offensive coordinators of all time to raise Philip Rivers.

by the way this is one of the reasons fox and hurney will return

The "hysteria" was really more to do with the Charger's GM and his well known feud with Schottenheimer and the fact he waited until mid February to fire Schotty.

By then the DC Wade Phillips had already left for Dallas and the OC Cam Cameron had left for Miami leaving the Chargers without anyone internally to coach the team. Other teams had already filled their positions and Norv was one of the few options left out there.

And while I agree Norv is an excellnt OC it was Cam Cameron who "raised" Rivers and guided him to a 14-2 record the year before Norv got there the first season Rivers started. Cameron is doing the same thing right now in Baltimore for two years with Flacco as the OC.

A lot of the success currently happening in San Diego is Ron Rivers's work with the defense. Norv came into a very good situation.

i was referring to all the chargers fans i know that were panicking about bringing in a guy who'd failed wherever he went.

well yeah but norv certainly has something to do with it.

well there's also a head coach who knows a thing or two about being a qb but yeah i see your point

Have no problem with that at all, which is what I said to begin with, with the exception of maybe drafting one, but would prefer to pick one up in FA.

We have depth on both sides of the ball, 5 picks, not counting the compensatory picks, and need WR's, and QB.

We could swing some deals either way you wanna do it, at whatever position.

Not sure what was so hard to understand about that, but some people just live to argue.....not meaning you Squirrel

I feel sorry for Matt...he deserves to go into next season as the unquestioned starter, but since there's a better than good chance Fox will be back...don't get your hopes up.

But to get back on topic here, I do feel like the coaches are doing a great job acclimating Moore into the offense and he only gets better through experience. Works the sideline well, throws well on the move and good deep-ball. Still might be early to say but fug it, I think he possesses the intangible commonly known as "it".

It's all about the money and I wouldn't feel good about unnecessary cap hits resulting in us not being able to sign players for next season, regardless if there's a change.

After what I've seen, I wouldn't complain about keeping what we have and get upgrades elsewhere.

even if there was, you're on the hook for 13 million whether you have him or you cut him. Where would you want Jake on gameday? On the sideline or on his ranch?

do you think Jake Delhomme offers this team more as a part of it than off of it?

Yes....I do as a good veteran backup presence that knows the system should an emergency arise. Gonna have to pay him either way.

short of zeus coming down and writing it in stone every sign in the world is pointing to there not being a CBA signed by next year and even a cursory knowledge of the nfl scene would make this obvious to.

here's the latest

NBC's Peter King reports that CBA negotiations between the NFL owners and players are going "poorly."

Some players that had been optimistic about an agreement reportedly now believe there will be a lockout in 2011. The tentative deadline for a new CBA to be constructed is March 2010. While an uncapped year remains likely next season, there's still plenty of time to avoid a lockout with well over a year left to negotiate. The owners opted out of the old CBA in May 2008. in an emergency to the point that jake is playing they might as well just pull jangler out of the stands

Gonna have to pay him either way.

exactly, so who in an emergency would you rather have? mccown or jake?

or how bad is this emergency? Have moore and mccown/feely/cantwell/whatever magic qb you were alluding to acquiring in that earlier mess both gotten hurt, and the only chance is their 14 million dollar fourth string qb?

you're delusional
