Two moments that told me how much confidence the coaches had in Moore

We need to be careful not to blow our wad here. Does Moore look great right now? Yep. But people are all the sudden saying he is THE answer, and that we can now keep Fox and Hurney and that everything is a-ok. I think we need to take a step back and look at the picture as a whole first. Let's not let these two awesome games think we're suddenly the best damn team in the NFL.

As for your "moments", OP, the second is spot on. The first, IMO, is just a result of having nothing to play for, thus Fox needn't be conservative. Jake has done many a last minute drive. We know he...has been...capable.

He's not "the answer" but he's also not a waste of time. He might very well be a capable QB for a couple of years (like Jake, I guess, but it's a run-first team anyway, right?).

Matt has earned it, and deserves it. He deserves going into training camp as the number one IMHO.

No arguments there from me. If you had read what I posted above it would be very obvious that is how I feel Dockery.

I wasn't really focusing on your post, I was more or less backing up what I said earlier in the thread because you responded to Fiz's, and my post was reiterating what he said.

you don't keep jake around. as long as Jake is on the team, he'll be a distraction. He'll be making more money, he'll have the history and relationship with Fox behind him, and he is still a very competitive person, though this year may have tempered that a bit. As long as him and fox are there, the temptation to play him will be there.

now if Fox is gone it doesn't matter.

however, if you're serious about moore, but not fox, you bring in a coach who feels the same. people were hysterical when the chargers signed norv turner, but it's no coincidence that they brought one of the greatest offensive coordinators of all time to raise Philip Rivers.

by the way this is one of the reasons fox and hurney will return

i wasn't responding to that.

I was responding to your senseless little livejournal post

Zif, since you seem to be as backwards as they come, thanks for your failed attempt at an insult.

Now......go find you some gifs to post, so you will feel superior, and sleep better tonight whilst thinking you really pissed someone off, or "dissed" them and put them in Zif's little laughing box of a corner.

I think Matt will start, Jake will be back, along with McCown, and we pick up a project QB in the draft unless we hold out of for a golden goose of a veteran QB to pick up.

electro let me get this straight

you want moore, Jake (restructured), McCown, and then to draft ANOTHER qb to groom?

what, does Hunter Cantwell need competition on the practice squad? Why waste a draft pick on a fifth QB? who do you think you're going to get?

This is why I want Jake gone even if he would be a really good backup guy. Fox is going to be back. Moore f**ks up one or two games next season and everyone knows what's going to happen.

Provided Fox doesn't just give Delhomme the job out of TC.

Moore is a RFA next season. How many times is he going to be cool with "Jake is our best chance to win" speeches and/or being passed over for a guy he's outplaying before he says "f**k it" and just waits for his FA to arrive?

Then hey ho! We're right back where we started. Actually, worse, because we're out a decent QB.

How do you omit the "if" part, the FA part, and just zero in on what your brain wants to read?

Also...the "I think" part?????

oh so it's a completely incomprehensible contradictory post which can't be deconstructed because like some drunkenly assembled voltron none of the pieces fit together and therefore provides protection from dissection

a very bold strategy

we need to sign all QBs and draft another one but we're sitting pretty maybe i dont know we need i think jake but only if he takes a pay cut

The problem I see and it a couple of things.

1. Jake is going to cost $13 million to cut. Can we trade him very doubtful. We could cut him after June 30 and split his cap hit (thats if we have a cap next year). Or we bring him back for next season.

If you bring Jake back you will have Jake, Moore and then a third QB now I know I dont want it to be a rookie QB. I would much prefer a decent veteran (Pennington). So unless we carry 4 qb's or cut Jake I dont see us getting a rookie.
