To the Fox haters

Knee sprains take around three weeks or more to fully heal. It was at the very end of November. Why wouldnt they put him on IR?

well the extent of it was never disclosed, when you say "knee sprain", it doesn't specify a reliable time table.

especially the haste they used to put him on IR, just a few days after the game in which he banged it up, we were already down one WLB.

So there was Johnson. Someone else mentioned McCown. Let's not forget Corvey Irvin. And Jake Delhomme. And C.J. Davis.

The argument is Fox added people to IR for an exuse.

Ivrin tore his MCL. Which, depnding on sevrity can take months to fully heal for football ready. Wasnt really valuable at that point. Why keep him on active roster? Also it happned early. Unless Fox was secrelty planning on padding before the season even started.

Delhomme had a broken finger and couldnt grasp the ball. Made no sence to keep him on active roster.

CJ Davis was put on for lingering injuries that kept hindring his perfomance. This also was a player who wasnt that important, and before the season started.

Mccown is the only one that has any merit.

Correct. But typically it takes at least three weeks to heal in genral.

The haste is nothing different form any other time. They take a day or two for diagnois and then make a call. I don't see anything truly suspisous about this case

The only reason I can see keeping Fox at this point is because of Meeks. IMO that has been the only bright spot on this whole team. Moore has Def added a spark to the team that they needed in Week 1 but lets not forget who kept Delhomme in there till he could not.... Lets also not forget who handy caps our Offense to the point its Predictable also. I mean If Jonathan Stewart and Matt Moore would not have made there own plays out there today we would not of had the win.

Not necessarily disagreeing but you can say that about every team if the QB/RB doesn't make plays. The offense appears to be fine when we don't turn the ball over and execute. When we execute we score points, when we don't we look predictable.

if the team were winning and johnson didn't suck so much (wasn't such a massive waste of money) there is no way they would have IRed him.

this was a great way of hiding the failure that was giving him that giant contract. he got the job over anderson only because he was more expensive. this was their out.

fox killed two birds with one stone here.....

Since the Panthers have been eliminated from playoff contention, they've looked like the best team in the NFC. ...Uh, Yea, you go Fox, where the f**k was all this newfound preparedness on gameday when we were still in the hunt? It was nowhere to be found. Not to speak bad about the two wins we've gotten, I enjoyed every single minute of them, but it's too little, too late.

it seems like some people are forgetting how inept the team looked the first 13 games overall, and are falling for Fox's late season strategy of snaking his way into the next year without bearing a heap of criticism on his shoulders

Somehow got your inept starting QB on the bench without actually having to bench him or admitting your error in judgment with that atrocious contract extension last spring? Check.

Padded the Injured Reserve list to make it look like you struggled a lot more with injuries than you really did? Check.

End the season on a high note with more wins than losses? Check.

Finish the season with a "convincing" win to produce optimism for the coming year against a team that's already clinched and resting most of their starters? Well, this is all they really need to do, if Minnesota loses tomorrow night, Chicago basically clinching first seed for the Saints, or if the Saints don't give a poo about homefield throughout, John Fox has a golden opportunity to finally reach .500 in winning percentage which hasn't happened yet this season, especially against a division rival which happens to be one of the top teams this year.

Because that's all Fox really needs to do to please the carolina fanbase, he only needs to remind us he can do a good job once in a while, without actually making any real progress.

Absolutely brilliant! It all makes sense now. John Fox was purposely tanking game after game early this season and then decided to just go ahead and win a few at the end to keep his job. That is absolute amazing logic.

Look, I would prefer for Fox to stay next year. But I understand he has his faults and I can understand people's frustrations with him. And there is a lot of good, logical arguments out there that support the fact that he should be gone next year. But what you're saying is just pure mindless dribble.

He is definitely loyal to a fault. And he may or may not have (probably did) ruin the season by sticking with Jake for too long. But people can learn from their mistakes and John Fox is no exception. You think he is gonna just throw Jake in there as the starter next year without question, right? But lets look at the reason he maybe stuck with Delhomme for so long this season. What experience has he had when Jake was not his starter? Lets look at the disaster that was '07. The QB carousel. And when Jake was injured in '06. The Panthers got burned because of bad QB play. When he's had to rely on his backups, things have always turned sour for him. Then in '08 with Delhomme back, we go 12-4. After those last 2 seasons, how would that not boost your confience your guy under center? I can understand his reasoning behind sticking with "his guy" although it turned out to be the wrong decision. But there's no way he is so stupid that he has turned a blind eye to the performance that Matt Moore has put up in his games this season.

All in all, I think he should at least finish out his contract. He is definitely the best shot we have at winning next year. This team is built to win NOW. Bringing in a whole new staff and changing our offensive and defensive schemes is going to nullify the progress we have made this year. The talent we have right now is not going to last forever. Smitty may have only a couple good years left being an elite reciever and who knows what will happen with our running backs after next year. Moore seems have a good grasp of our offensive system and seems to have already built some pretty good chemistry with Smitty. Changing our offensive scheme, in my opinion, would do more harm than good next year.

I say keep Fox in 2010. I don't think I can stomach to watch a rebuilding year with all the talent we have on our roster. In my opinion it would be a complete waste. But anything short of a deep playoff run, let Fox walk.

2002: Team goes 4-1 after a 3-8 start

2003: Team wins final three games to make playoffs, then wins three IN playoffs

2004: Team goes 6-2 down stretch, almost overcoming 1-7 start

2005: Team wins last two games after heartbreaking Xmas Eve loss to Dallas, then wins two playoff games on road

2006: Team wins last two games on road to finish 8-8

2007: Team goes 3-2 in December to finish 7-9

2008: Team wins four of last five, only loss at NYG in OT

2009: Team 3-1 in December after 4-7 start

The results speak for themselves. Fox's players never quit on him, which is amazing after eight seasons.

His problem is and has always been keeping the players focused and hungry when things look good. This is why he never has had 2 consecutive winning seasons. If he could figure that out, he would be a HoF coach.

Problem is, this team needs adversity to succeed. They play down to their competition and lose focus after successful seasons.

Agree with this... And since he can't seem to win games when we are looking on top of things, it's time to let a horrible program pick up Foxy and make them decent.
