Jeff Davidson + Legit NFL QB =

Yeah, maybe that's it... they've just run the ball the last two drives and we've stuffed it down the Giant's throat...

I find myself wondering what the deal is with this team... does this group with a lot of backups gel better? Are these guys playing harder because they know it's their shot to be seen? Do we just match up well against the Vikings and Giants?

Or could it be that they're all excited that Jake is not playing QB???

I mean, Peppers was coming off the sideline giving high-fives to the offensive players... If he's done that in the past, I've never seen it...

You know.. I noticed that too. And I'm beginning to wonder if Peppers had a problem with management because he didn't like the qb situation. Maybe he and Jake aren't on good terms or something. I mean if we go back to earlier this year.. his comments (i can't remember from the top of my head, but probably archived somewhere) about the loss to arizona amongst other things.

I was wondering this myself... where has the conservative playcalling gone? We're up 24-0 and they're throwing the ball down the middle of the field. It's great, but what changed? I thought Fox had confidence in Jake... or was that just talk to keep from bashing him in the press?

steve smith with a broken arm is why playcalling is usually conservative. if fox wasn't trying to build up the biggest lead possible to save his job, there's no way he (or any, outside of bill belicheck) would've kept chucking the ball.

So here's what I think is happening. Go back a few weeks ago to when Moore went for the run play instead of the pass. I am beginning to think that the offense allows a lot of QB "calls" where they can decide where to go with the ball, either to a back or toss it downfield. I think the conservative "calling" we were seeing was, in no small part, due to the QBs. Obviously it wasn't ALL that way - draws on 3rd & long, etc - but let's be honest, this offense the last 2 weeks looks nothing like what we saw in previous weeks... so what's different? Heh.

Well, we have a quarterback who is actually hitting receivers in stride. That helps a lot. The TD pass to Moose was a thing of beauty, and the best pass that has been throw to him in probably a year and a half or so.

We complain about our receivers not getting seperation, but I wonder how much of that was due to Jake not being able to lead them at all, or throwing to late, or to early, or 10 feet over there heads.

the most amazing thing to me is how they let Moore continue to throw regardless of a 3 possesion lead. You would NEVER see them do that with Jake. And yet, they say they still have confidence in Jake.

Jake Delhomme=Most expensive bench warmer of 2010.

I said the same thing in chat. But their playcalling says something else. If Moore is not at least competing for the start next season and with some other QB than Jake. Then Fox is hopeless and should be fired next Monday.

Have to admit, I thought Davidson was fuging clownshoes until the last two games, but he's done really well lately.

I can't freaking believe how aggressive the calls are. Throwing it on 3rd and 20+ on a John Fox team? Up by 30+ and still throwing it around?!

I knew Delhomme was trash this year, but I didn't realize he was affecting the team THAT much. We look completely different.

That is a good point... maybe Jake was changing plays to more conservative stuff because of his mental issues, which I truly believe is what is wrong with him. He's lost the confidence and mental focus it takes to be an NFL QB, along with the deterioration of his physical skills (which were never all that great anyway) and you have what we saw this season.

Moore may be taking the plays that he's given and going with them... He has the confidence and the arm to make the throws that we are now seeing.

Which if this is the case, everything that everyone has been saying about Fox has been right and he "wasted" half or more of this season trying to ride it out with Jake.

i think it is partly because we got nothing to loose from a playoof picture standpoint. and partly because they get caught up in the excitement that slinging it all over the field brings. they look at Matt and are like wow let se what else he can do. i know Jake was a fox guy but coaches like to win and all though he waited way to long to start moore he still has to smile when he sees 41 to 9.
