Moore Bandwagon

moore is not the long term answer lets draft a qb and let the 2 compete for the starting job

Moore proved that he was capable 2 years ago. He is showing again that he is a capable QB for this team. We don't need to search for the next Peyton Manning in the draft. I think Moore is good enough to win with this team going forward.

Was skeptical about the kid, but I think Im finally on the Moore train. These last 2 weeks, its been fun being a Panthers fan again and now the future of this team doesnt look so bleak. Hopefully, Moore can give us a whole bunch to cheer about next year and for years to come. We just got to cut Jake and officially end the "Delhomme era".

How exactly do you know this again? No one knows whether or not Moore is anything other than the band-aid for our boo-boo this year. I feel confident he could make strides and be a well-accomplished starter for us. On the other hand, hec ould very well not be, but I don't know for sure and neither do any of you saying he is not the answer we need.

I'm not above bringing in another Vet next year for competition, but honestly don't see how drafting a QB high and a possible starter could possibly be a smart move. Now, if you're thinking "draft one and let him ride the pine the next few years," I could at least somewhat stand behind that statement, but I'm not too keen on this year's crop of QBs for that idea. I'd rather wait til next year for that move.

See, I would say franchise possibly, maybe a 1 in 5 chance. But there are so few true franchise QB's, that its hard to say. I don't think he will ever be a Brady or Peyton Manning, but think he could end up being as good as someone like Eli Manning or Tony Romo.

The guy has decent strength, his accuracy in improving, and he has good mobility. He will have his ups and downs, especially as more teams develope more knowledge of him, and our offense with him. But he does show some potential, more than any rookie we might draft.

I can accept that as a possibility.

i'm not sure how many of you are familiar with sigmund bloom (draftguys.com and footballguys.com) but he's a pretty good analyst and talent evaluator who actually watches each game instead of just looking at the stats.

anyway, he was watching the panthers/giants game this morning and he said this about moore....

CAR/NYG: Matt Moore nearly perfect. Good touch deep throws, Bullets into small windows, precise on play action/rollout. hope he starts in 10

link

he was also noticing how much more relaxed the panthers have been playing the last couple weeks and how much improved they are because of it and he made this comment...

CAR/NYG Notes: You have to wonder how much CAR tightened up because they believed Delhomme reduced chances to win. so relaxed w/ him out

Jake Delhomme: Avg. QB Rating: 59.4, TDs: 8, Ints: 18

Matt Moore: (past 2 games) QB Rating: 131.5, TDs: 6, Ints: 0

Am I missing something?

By no means am I jumping on the bandwagon, but Jake Delhomme never broke 100 for a QB rating this season. Matt Moore has done it two games in a row.

The last 4 games of the season are easy? He has not had much time starting his whole career and is playing for a starting role for next year's season against some of the best NFL Defenses. I'm thinking there is quite a bit of pressure.

You've stated that he doesn't know the playbook, but seems to be playing (other than a few questionable throws) like a starting QB.

Is there something that we don't know? Did Matt Moore play a prank on you because you sure don't seem to like him, even though he is obviously, for now a better QB, than anyone we have or could bring in?

I do think we bring in another QB to compete, but I'm just not understanding the 'I'm not giving Matt Moore his due until he proves himself next season' statements.

Gotta agree with the OP.

If Moore isn't cut out to play this level, it's not going to show now, it's going to show Week 5 or 6 of next year, when opposing teams have to focus on him in their gameplans.

By then, it would be far too late to bring in another QB.

Bring in some competition.

Let them battle it out.

Agreed, once teams figure out that he's going to roll to his right on long passing downs and once we have to play from behind negating short throws (thank you Davidson...FINALLY), he's probably going to show some flaws. To date, the Giants was his most crisp performance. Moore was accurate on his longer throws unlike his previous games. He is managing the game with leads, however, I am not sure he can be as effective if a heavy dose of the passing game is needed. Moore has played well under near ideal conditions. He may convert me into a believer if he happens to plays well in a dogfight.

Dan is right, we need another QB in camp next year with Jake and Matt. I don't mean Cantwell or Feely. With both Moore and Delhomme under contract, it won't be a big name either in FA or the draft. It will have to be a #2 off another roster or a rookie on the second day of the draft.

To put it plain and simple...there is NOT a franchise QB on our roster and this team needs to acquire one!

Don't ruin my high/buzz off of this game! :D It's ridiculous how we can run even better over teams with someone that can throw the ball, to our players. I'm guessing I'm just hoping he is the answer, but I'd like to get someone else in here like everyone else.

Matt Is exactly what Fox wants in a QB, one that is good enough to move the ball. With a running game and defense that is now firing under Meeks. We have our team for 2010. I do agree with bring in some competition for Moore and cut or talk Jake into retiring. But this is Moore's team to lose IMHFO.

:iagree:

I don't want a QB that can do "just enough" to win. That is mainly why I'm not thrilled with Fox coming back next year because when "just enough" isn't good enough we are screwed, but that is all Fox wants. I want a franchise QB that can manage a game when it needs to be managed that can also put the game on his back when the situation calls for it. Can Moore do that? WE DON'T KNOW. The situation hasn't occurred yet and the closest thing to it would be the Patriots game.

My question is, how fast will some of you all turn on Moore if he has a spotty performance? I won't becasue I haven't put him on a iconic tier as of yet like many of you.
