Anybody Else Having Problems With Direct TV........

............changing their local channels satellite?? I have, and am getting no local channels, and they are telling me they have to come out and put up another dish, and exchange out the receivers because of the change. Anyone?

This has been going on for a couple of weeks now, but they have given me the Sunday Ticket for free, so I can't complain to much. Only thing is I miss my news.

I won't be able to watch the Panthers game on the Sunday Ticket, but I will just watch it on my regular ole' TV with one of those new conversion boxes, but the rest of the games on the Ticket. 2 TV's going at once......SWEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTT!

I live in Garner, North Carolina, and I went to Charlotte to the Car Care Bowl to support the Heels and I stayed at the Courtyard downtown. They have Direct TV, and on a few channels such as ABC and ESPN 2 and indeed some local channels I would receive a message that says, No Signal. I have no idea if that is what you were experiencing but that is just my two cents. Good luck in getting it repaired.

They are replacing, and updating everything for free, and seeing as how I wasn't the one that changed the position of the satellite, I think that is only fair, and obviously they do as well. It's just doing without my locals that I can't stand.

They also said it had something to do with updating the locals to all HD.

I am a weather junkie, and news junkie, but I'll have to deal with it till they can get someone out here next Thursday they say.

Pretty sweet of them to give me the Sunday Ticket for free the last 2 weeks though, can't complain about that....but I still want my news. :D

Not only that, not being able to watch The Price Is Right is killing me!!!

They may be moving all locals to the latest satellite they put up (which I think is only receivable with the latest dish & receivers). I went through the switcheroo last year when I lost some channels. They wanted to charge me though until I did a major amount of bitching and reminding them I've been with them for close to 15 years and have been a sub to at least 2 of the sports premiums (Sunday Ticket, Center Ice) for every year. They finally agreed to give me the goods for free. So consider yourself lucky that you didn't have to raise holy hell to get the upgraded equip.

Now....make sure the bastards don't try to stick it to you with a new 2 yr service agreement starting the day of the upgrade.

Yeah, that was the first thing I cleared up with them. I have had to spend quite a bit of time on the phone with them, and being transferred to every little Tom, Sue, Ling Chow, and Lakisha you could ever imagine, but they are supposedly coming through for me, everything free on the upgrades, plus threw in some freebies, like the Sunday Ticket since I could watch any football being shown on locals, Starz and Showtime.

:cheers2:

i didn't have that problem. but the panther game was on local channel so it was blacked out on the sunday ticket channel. then, friggin fox switched to another game because of the blowout so i couldn't watch the 4th quarter because the direct tv channel was still blocked out!

that sucked!

ARE THEY REALLY? that was what kept me from switching for so long. i've been using an hd antenna to pick up all the locals in HD since Dtv hasn't been offering anything other than SD on them. I've been able to get signal from all locals except NBC.

Superfan eliminates the black out.

Actually I have Superfan and I got blacked out in the fourth too. It wasn't the whole 4th but I was able to watch the replay shortcut later on that night.

No it doesn't....if your zip code is in the blackout region, that's the beginning and end of it. Superfan does nothing but give you the games in HD & access to other features like Red Zone channel in HD, watching games online as well as from a cellphone.

the panthers are always on my local channel, but not in HD if using DiercTV. i have friends without the superfan who suffer from the blackout whenever their team is on a local channel. with superfan i don't. way i understood it was that if the local channel is carrying a game, that game will not be on the sunday ticket channel.

I would guess that has more to do with whether or not DirecTV offers your local network in HD. If they don't, then they're probably allowed to provide you with an HD feed if you sub to SuperFan.

You cannot skirt blackout rules based on buying SuperFan...just can't. Go read the blackout policy on DirecTV's website and tell me if it reads differently. They're very quick to point out that you can't get around blackouts. There's something different about your location and your friends that accounts for why they may be blacked out while you're not.

And blackout rules are not different for SD or HD broadcasts....if you're not blacked out, you can get the game in either format. If you are, then you won't get it in either. The only exception to this that I know of is in regards to MSG networks in NY. They have some sort of right to local HD broadcasts and only DirecTV subs in the NY/NJ area can watch games in HD via MSG. Those outside of NY/NJ can't, though they can still view the SD channel.

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
