No....that's a far cry above the 45 grand mark. I can only dream of one of those. That is indeed a home on wheels.

What I mean, is something like my truck, that I can wrap a rope or chain around whatever it is I want to move, and give it 600+hp worth of pure hell and dismantling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D

sorry you bought a new one, they are nice vehicles but that thing goes from 45k to 29k at the auto auction with it being less than a year old and that would have the LT package with all the bells and whistles

I know your quite wise on the auto buisness. I still envy you for getting that SL 65 (even though it was prob a money pit).

Did you like the 5-series?

Me? Yeah, i did. It was before the big design change...an '03. It was a 525 so not much power...but you could cruise at 80mph and it was sweet. On the Interstate i found i drove faster in the 525 than i did in the M3, jst because i wouldnt realize how fast i was driving.

If I were to buy another used BMW, id more than likely get another Pre-Owned. Some people debate whether its worth it or not. To me it is (was)...

I really shudder to think if i would have had to to spring for an M3 engine...not to mention the labor cost to replace it. It didnt cost me a dime. And i have to say, Hendrick BMW service was very good. I had another mindblowing/maddening problem with the M3 (whole other thread) and they were great. They had every reason to think i was crazy(but i wasnt and was vindicated in the end) and they didnt flinch and were very accommodating.

When poo starts breaking on BMW's its expensive as hell. Not just major poo, but regular stuff too. Buy a 2 or 3 yr old BMW with that PO warranty and its better than the original warranty

Many people get buyer's remorse after buying a big ticket item like a car. They second guess themselves all the time. I own half a car lot with my father and most of the buyer's remorse happens in the first 60 days.

I've never been a new car person. I see a new car that I like and tell myself, "I'll get one of those in 7 or 8 years." And I do. Over the last year I bought a 454 Chevy big block truck, 300ZX turbo, and some other fun cars that are anywhere from 7 to 15 yrs. old. I had wanted them at one time or another, and now was able to buy them and enjoy them just as much as the person who bought it new.....but the person that bought it new paid a hell of a lot more for it. I bought a 1999 jag a few years ago in pristine condition for $7200. The invoice was still in the dash and the person that bought it new had paid over $60k for it. So I got to enjoy the car just as much as the person who bought it new but for 12% of what they paid for it.

I will drive these cars sometimes as little as a few days before I am tired of them and stick them out on my lot to sell. A test drive in a new car for an hour really isn't a good test of how much you will love it/need it when you are locked into payments for 4,5, or 6 years. Things change, marriage, divorce, more kids, amt. of driving, amt. of parking, etc. but the payments and the fact you are upside down in it don't change because it's a depreciating asset. Statistics also show that after 6 months of ownership, the new car happy feeling is gone. At that point it's just a car to you.

With that said, just give me a good little used car/truck/van that gets decent mileage, has AC, and is dependable to get you from point A to point B. In fact even though I have about 20 different cars I could drive if I wanted, what I drive the most is a 1998 Ford Escort 5 sp. wagon. I have $800 in it. It gets 32 mpg and plenty of space in the back, it's easy to park, and it is royal blue with pink flames down the side.

The cheaper the car means more people can afford it when you're ready to sell, and you can then get rid of it and be adaptable to your changing lifestyle. If you want something newer, statistics show that the best time to buy a 'new' car is when it's 3 yrs. old because it has lost the biggest part of its depreciation so you can still enjoy some of its 'newness' while often under warranty.

I think pre-owned is the way to go. Although i understand that the mainatinance on an M3 is high, something like a 5 year old Acura RL or Lexus 350 will be relatively cheap, will still have a great warranty and there is no reason it should not last for another 150k miles if you change they oil and all that/ they are basically Hondas and Toyotas.

If you don't need that little bit of luxury, get a pre-owned Honda or whatever.

I have had great experiences with Hendrick.

Mush is right though. You should drive something that will get you from A to B and carry your crap. Anything extra is luxury
