‘ .Injuries in the secondary, when you have Justin Jefferson rolling into town next week, are far from ideal. Troy Hill is quickly emerging as the team's most reliable cornerback. But expecting a 32-year-old to cover arguably the league's best wideout for an entire game is asking for trouble.  

This leaves Donte Jackson the likely candidate. But as the weeks go by, the decision to extend the player is another issue of contention for general manager Scott Fitterer.

The player simply cannot be relied upon in coverage, D.K. Metcalf had six receptions for 112 receiving yards and had his way with Jackson for most of the contest.

He was inexplicably beaten by running back Kenneth Walker III on a first and 25 giving Seattle a key first down. To top it all off, Jackson was 'Moss'd' by undrafted free agent Jake Bobo for the final score after being beaten off the line.

For context, Bobo ran a five-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.,’

I said Fitt was an idiot at the time for extending Jackson AFTER he blew out his achilles. Jackson wasn't that good before the injury, and now we're stuck with the older post injury version. Why? Because Fitt doesn't know what he's doing.

I said the contract was a terrible decision and got sh!t. Then this offseason I said what a mess Fitterer and Samir are making of future cap space with all these void years on EVERY deal.

For the love of god get Fitterer and Samir the hell out of here.

I was really hoping they’d trade Donte at the deadline when he was on his final year a few years ago. It made too much sense. Instead they held onto him and signed him to another deal and let Reddick walk

Hurn dog is miles better than Fitt  At least Hurns 1st rounders were elite.

Jackson's contract was always a giant mistake. That is a player you trade before year 4 and let someone else make that mistake while walking away with a 2nd or 3rd. He was always so replaceable...if we had better people...

Re-signing Jackson was a huge head-scratcher, just like re-signing Ian Thomas. Just... bad stuff.

Jackson's contract is fine, he's good enough to pay because of the speed but he just gets hurt and has some head scratching plays here and there. Just have to deal with it.

There were other options before the season started 

puzzling to me how a team knows they have Cb issues, 2 guards coming off year Ending injuries, and Chark, too, had an injury situation 

out of all the available players…what we have is the best we could do?

The contract happening after the major injury didn't make sense and makes less sense now. I would have rather seen that money go to the offense. In general we still have shown a tendency to be sentimental with guys we drafted instead of moving on when it's best for the team. Sound familiar? Jackson Thomas and yes even Thompson fit that bill. We haven't moved on from these players because Fitterer has been largely inept at drafting and his free agent acquisitions aside from Corbett and Luvu have been either meh or outright bad.

The injury happened in Nov, and he got the extension in March. I couldn't believe it. Jackson is short and gets outrun on the deep ball regularly, and that was before the Achilles injury. Jackson coming back from the injury at 90% of his former self would be worth barely over the vet minimum, but not to Fitt. Dude is out of his mind. It's like the Sam Darnold 5th year option. Why? Because Fitt envisioned Sam Darnold becoming an expensive franchise QB and he wanted to save money by doing the option before it expired. Anyone with 2 brain cells at the time thought Sam was a proven loser on the field, and a major LONGSHOT prayer to even become average. Not in Fitt's fantasy world. He was saving us big time money in his mind. This team is mismanaged. We don't behave like other teams. We throw money and draft picks away on trash.

And btw anyone who says that Rhule drew up the contract for Sam, or suggested all those picks, has lost my respect as a reasonable person. Fitt is to blame. And he's still doing bloopers. He hasn't stopped.

We extend the mid and trade the legit. Or just let them walk
