So ESPN thinks we'll trade DWill for a high first round pick

DeAngelo has missed time in college with a broken leg and sprained knee, and in the pros with an ankle, which is injured again. NO running back is exempt from getting nicked up. If we did trade a back, there's no doubt the front office would ensure that there was a capable backup in place, only this time they probably wouldn't spend a first-rounder on one.

People in this thread just don't want DWill traded because he's their favorite player and they own his jersey.

Oh, and we'd never get a high first rounder for a running back, anyway.

You are right about no running back being exempt from injuries. However Stewart is not even done with his second season yet, and I can't remember the last time he wasn't on the injury report because of his Achilles or toe. Ever since we drafted him, one of those two things have been constantly hurting him, so it is reasonable to worry that it could get worse in the future.

Also, I honestly think that DWill is the better of the two. They are both great, but DWill's cutback ability and vision allow him to make plays when they just aren't there. It's fun as hell to watch too!

Just my opinion.

Rarely do I step out of line and act like a dick, but....

..... Are you retarded? Out of all the QB's this year, you'd pick Clausen?

I just lost a little faith in this message board with a post like that. The only worse comment would be "The Golden Calf of Bristol".

Okay Mel Kiper, why dont you tell me what is wrong with Clausen, and who you would rather have coming out at QB this year? Clausen got better and better each year at ND, in a pro style offense. He has proven that he can grasp a tough offense, has a very good arm, good mechanics, and has proven that he can keep getting better.

tl;dr you can suck my dick. Its only my opinion, and im sure there are many others who share my sentiments.

Its risky, but it has paid off before in the past.

Indy traded Marshall Faulk to the Rams, someone they would have lost in FA anyways and drafted a guy named Edgerrin James to replace him. One of the shrewdess moves in the last decade.

Yep and they saved bunches of money in the process of not having to sign Faulk to a new deal.

I wouldn't necessarily want a top 5 first round pick for DeAngelo, but if we could get a 10-20 pick and another mid rounder, then we would be trading DeAngelo for potentially two starters in draft picks and saving possibly 40 million dollars in cap room.

I think we should trade one. We obviously don't need them both, as we can find talent with guys like Sutton and Goodson. We can surely find more that can help split the load with the one we decide to keep.

Drafting and developing running backs is clearly not a problem for this FO/Coaching staff, and we should take advantage of it.

Think Champ Bailey for Clinton Portis. Denver knew it could churn out RB's like no tomorrow, but it couldn't get a good CB to save it's life.

1) I have heard more negative stuff about Clausen than good. Primarily he is a lousy clubhouse member and a $hitty leader.

2) There isn't a bonafide franchise QB in this years draft. The closest is Clausen (READ UP)

3) No way to we tie up Julius and lose D'Will.

4) Why in the world would we want to trade our 1st back to back 1000yd rusher?

5) IF, BIG IF, we trade D'Will we better get about 3 or 4 picks. This years 1st, next yrs 1st and a couple others.

6) ONLY if there were a Peyton Manning or Drew Brees, Otherwise we LOSE.

Go Panthers

If we are going to get rid of a RB don't let it be Deangelo make it Stewart. I don't think we should get rid of either RB for any QB in this draft. Definitley not sold on Clausen even though he had a great year. I would rather have the Mallett kid from Arkansas in a later round, guy has a ton of potential. I still think we need a veteran QB that can run and make things happen when the pocket breaks down(not gonna mention any names).

Why would we assume that we wouldn't be able to resign DeAngelo?

lol at people bringing up Stewart's "injury history" when DeAngelo is about to miss his second straight game.

What in the world are you talking about? He played last week and I'm sure he would still be playing this week if we had a shot at the playoffs.

Stewart, on the other hand, doesn't even practice most of the time because of that nagging heel/foot injury. That foot has plagued him since he got here.
