So ESPN thinks we'll trade DWill for a high first round pick

For a top 3 pick? I would seriously have to consider that if I were them. Stew has shown that he can carry the load for the whole game. I would hate to see him go, but I would love to see us get a young, stud QB. I know that its a crap shoot sometimes in the draft, but if we got Clausen I would jizz my pants.

Who is them. New management or the same management

I dont know if the choice they do take for a top 5 pick will be the right one with either new management or the same management. People say QB, some people say WR. Both is important. Difference is with a top 5 pick. A top 5 WR has better chance of making a quicker and less riskier impact in his first few years. That is if you actually pick top 5 talent

Stew is capable, just not that durable. But he's been playing so who knows. The NFL is changing into more of a passing offense

If you can't throw in the NFL these days you won't win. We can't keep our running game like this and just hope we can win a Super Bowl with no passing game. The top 3 run teams in the NFL aren't in the playoffs. 4 of the 5 leaders in passing are leading their divisions. We need a QB who can get this offense going through the air. As much as I love DeAngelo, and have since the day we drafted him. I think this would be the best move for our franchise.

In other news, the Vikings will likely trade Adrian Peterson for a first round pick because Favre is old and basically done and they will need a QB. And no big deal for them because Chester Taylor can carry the load.

If this sounds absurd to you - then so should this thread.

If doctors don't fix whatever is bothering Stewart's foot this offseason, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him rupture or tear something down there early in the regular season next year. So if we were to trade DeAngelo and have Stewart go down early, I hope they enjoy their elite combination of Tyrell Sutton and Mike Goodson.

if the panthers traded dwill i'd be so pissed. i do like stewart, but he lacks the agility, speed, and explosiveness williams has. i dont think we could rely on jstew alone.

ugh, imagine jake starting next year and williams being gone. i think i'd have to shoot myself.

Because we need a QB and we already have a starter in Stewart. Williams entering the final year of his rookie contract too.

This would be an extremely bold move along the lines of the Patriots trading Seymour to the Raiders for a #1 pick. I thnk the Pats have 3 #1s and 4 #2s in the next 2 drafts.

Seymour was 30 and in a contract year Deangelo will be in a contract year next year and a 5 year Vet.

I just don't see the Panthers having the stomach for it. Without all the picks the Pats have stockpiled can you imagine the Panthers moving forward with no DWill and a QB who might not produce for a year or two?

Trading the best player on our offense huh?? Is this really a discussion right now?? ESPN is stupid and any Panther fan that would sacrifice DWill for an unproven rookie QB is a jackass. Matt Moore is playing good football for us. I'm not sayin he's the answer but he is playin good football. I say we go sign us a veteran QB that will push Moore for that starting spot and worry about more pressing issues. DWill is one of the best RBs in the league the thought of him leaving makes no sense to me and is ridiculous. I really cannot believe this is a topic on this board right now. We are tryin to improve, not go backwards. Stewie is good but we all kno he's no DWill period. We r a running team, so lets get rid of one of the best RB in the league??? Makes no sense!! Come on Panther Fans!! I know we want a Franchise QB, but trading DWill is not the answer.

Come folks. Bristol is NYG territory. Don't think ESPN is trying to stir up the pot in Charlotte. Get some locker room chatter going. Some internal strife going on in the Panther Locker room.

NO Way in hell you trade a running back with a 5.0 ypc average. I don't care who is the top prospect. There are too many question marks on an unknown QB to give up that kind of talent.

If the NFLPA and Owners don't come to an agreement. The rights to a player goes from 4 years to 6 years. So D'Will won't be going anywhere. We will sign him. And if the CBA goes back into effect then we will Tag him.

Go Panthers

Again, nobody's answering my question. Why in the world would we choose to trade DeAngelo over Stewart?

Also, I'm a little disappointed with the football IQ of some of the people in this thread. All it took was DeAngelo to miss the better part of one single game where Stewart looked great and now you want to run DeAngelo out of town instead of Stewart. Don't buy into the media hype. They live on controversy. DeAngelo's not going anywhere.
