Jake Delhomme's career is over. He will never take a regular-season snap again.

If fox is here next year Delhomme will be the Panthers starting QB.

Thank goodness... I wanted to see Moore play when I went to see the Saints game. I was worried Jake would be stuck back in as a last game type thing.

Jakes contract needs to be restructured, and if that can be done, we would be fools not to keep him here as a backup unless something better drops into our laps.

Don't let your emotions blind you people. Jake is not starting material, but he could be a very dependable backup that atleast knows the system, no learning curve needed as would be a certainty if you bring in another backup. I'm not talking about him starting, BACKUP.

moore knows the system as does mccown. jake has shown he cant be counted on anymore after the zona game and this year. moore has shown he is a capable short term starter atleast. thats more than i expect from jake anymore. if we want to bring in a starter via trade of FA, there is no reason to bring jake back at 10 mill a year to be the 2nd backup and #3 qb. eat the money in 2010 to have some in 2011 to resign key FA, and maybe bring 1 in. one way or another we are paying him next year, why prolong the hit till 2011? in the mean time, bring in someone with potential for the #3 qb spot (like we did with moore). if we are down to jake coming in next year to save our season, or a game, we would need a miracle for jake to play well enough. he hasnt the last game of 08 or this year, and age isnt on his side.

Either way we cut him before camp or after camp it will cost us $12 million. So might as well have him in camp to make sure he is washed up.

what incentive would he have for restructuring other than getting even more money?

he's getting $13mil no matter what. he was lucky to score that.

i get what you are saying and that as a backup he could be a good one to have but at this point i don't see anymore benefit to having him than mccown.

the sad thing is that he will most likely be staying on the roster primarily because of the money he's going to be getting at the expense of someone who might have more potential in the long haul. i'm not really crazy about that.

mccown has experience in several different systems and he's been here longer than any of them. he has probably 5+ good years left in him if he shows himself to be a good start. jake...we are looking at 2 or 3...max 5 years.

i'd hate to see someone with more upside in the long term be released because of jake's contract.

plus, as long as he is on the roster, no QB has a real chance to take over the team. he is the sentimental favorite. the only way that rodgers was going to be able to take over the packers was to have farve gone. that is going to be the same issue here.

It just sucks being in a "catch 22" situation like we have put this team in.

Heartbreaking to an extent......for me anyway. I just hope it turns out for the best for all parties involved.

well, i think it's going to work out well as could be for jake. worse case scenario he has $13mil coming.

the catch 22 does suck, though. they gambled with a lot and the team lost.

when year end reviews come up...that has to be a factor. considering the situation hurney and fox got the team in...that's grounds for dismissal in my book.
