What the Panthers fanbase needs...

As much as I hate the "Fly Eagles Fly" and "E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES EAGLES EAGLES" crap.....that's the kind of passion the Charlotte fanbase needs. Those people live and die with their team every week and are loud as hell during games and they all get together on the song/chant. Beats the hell out of wearing the same color shirt, I'll tell ya.

After the Broncos game I commented that I was shocked to see very little Panthers love on vehicles during my ride down I77 into town. Really don't understand that....you probably can't go a mile or a minute in Philly or the suburbs without seeing someone with Iggles stuff on their car (or wearing it).

I've heard that Charlotte and the Carolinas "just aren't football areas". True? Different regarding basketball (college)? I've never really taken notice...only really kept a lookout for Panthers stuff.

In the Raleigh area at least, it's hard to go anywhere on gameday without seeing Pack, Tarhole, Duke, WF, or ECU gear on College football or basketball days. Even Carolina Hurricane games, any route you take you have lines of cars with flags/decals or just swing by the any restaurant along the way and you're bound to run into some jerseys.

But all of those have long and deep routes in this area unlike the Panthers.

Yes the Hurricanes are actually younger than the Panthers but they've had more success + it's the smallest of the big 4 pro sports and since the RBC Center only holds upwards of 21k it's easier to fill out out the fans that do are very passionate about it so we may as well have been around longer than the Panthers. It's also cheaper to support and goto hockey games with tickets as low as $9.99 and I believe we have some of the lowest food/parking costs in the entire NHL.

I don't know that they aren't football areas as much as it's a question of longevity. The panthers have been here a decade and a half, while NASCAR, the other big thing in Charlotte, was literally born there, and three of the greatest teams in college basketball--now and historically--are in NC: NC State, Duke, and UNC. You can throw Wake Forest in there too.

what we need is a super bowl title.

That'll get ya the bandwagon fans for sure. Eagles didn't have that either, though. Maybe it is because they've been there forever and the first gen of fans raised their kids in the same tradition and it's just built.

I think what they need most is a combination of time and team success.

Given both, I think they'll get there.

Hope so...it was just very odd not to see a lot of Panthers stuff on cars and people. Not what I'm used to seeing having grown up in the Philly burbs. Everywhere you went there was Eagles crap. I remember stopping at a gas station off of I-77 (think just south of LN) on the drive home from working in ATL...only needed gas but went inside anyway figured they'd have some Panthers trinkets or stickers....something. They had squat. I couldn't believe it. Suppose that's the way it is, but it just seemed very foreign.

I think it is just a matter of consistency. If we stung like three seasons in a row like this one I think a fan base grows..(of course full of band wagoners)..course what do you think Cowboy or Steeler Nation is all made of....

If you did not know....this was REDSKIN territory for years....Just enjoy being one of the elite Panther fans. I live here in SC (displaced from Charlotte) and just see blank stares if I mention a Panther game.....they revert back into how the Cocks are gonna whup Clemson next year.......drool ensues

It's hard to say all this considering we're REALLY young as a franchise. I consider us MUCH bigger fans than Jacksonville and that's one good way to gauge your "fanship." However, if our fans were like Eagle fans (I hope that NEVER happens bc they're dickheads up there) people would bitch about ticket prices...
