Root of all the offensive woes

This team can’t run the ball

How did we go from putting up monster numbers with virtually the same offensive line and assistant coach. Is there something wrong with the scheme or is it the players not getting the push they need?

No QB can compete in the NFL if you’re forced to be one dimensional.

We got suckered into trading CMC for a bag of beans and then got suckered into taking Sanders without wondering why the Eagles would just let their starting RB go without much fuss or bother...

We are suckers. All day suckers.

They screwed the pooch with Sanders. Wilks used C.Mayes as a full back for Foreman and Hubbard. It really helped the Oline out. gave the backs the lead blocking they needed. Trying to fix something that wasn't broken is the first mistake. Wilks would run first and establish the run to facilitate the pass.

They blew the whole thing up and killed the running game. Killed the running game, while choosing a rookie QB at #1.....with no running game.

One stupid move after another

And then they hired Reich instead of Wilks...

Biggest problem with the Panthers starts with the head coach. His scheme is very complicated with how the play is called with pre-snaps and audibles to confuse the defense. The problem with that is it creates confusion, then the vanilla routes the WRs run dont create bust plays for the defense (eventhough it was one today). Then Frank uses the wrong players and the wrong plays for situations.

And one of the biggest issues are the things he dont take advantage of like Hurry Up Offense, No huddle, two TE sets, I-formation, exotic plays, and end-around. He reminds me off coaches that have their favorites and won't play the players that need to be playing. Very stubborn

Frank is calling plays for players he doesn't have.

Namely an early down RB, a possession boundary WR and a legit second option at TE.

Crazy...all three of those I was begging for during preseason.  We have the cap space. Heck, a decent RB can be had for peanuts.  Sanders is a 3rd down back.  Chuba is mischaracterized as our power back. The TMJ experiment is OVER.  The Ian Thomas experiment is OVER.  Trying to turn Chuba Hubbard into Jerome Bettis isn't going to work.

Penalties can be cleaned up, but these are key components of our offense that have JAGs there.  We need upgrades.

Yo, just saw we play the Vikings next week.  We are going to light up the scoreboard to have any chance.  Bryce need to sit this one out too.  Make sure that ankle is fully healed up and all.  Our defense isn't slowing Cousins and Jefferson down.  Calling it now, the team to post 40+ points wins.

Reich is guilty of the same thing Rivera was: He has some preconceived notion about seniority when a guy isn't getting it done, and refuses to play the guy who is actually more productive. Add in the fact that he's more invested in Sanders and keeping up appearances, everyone else is just a glorified afterthought at most.

Is this the case at QB as well?  Projection aside, as of now, Dalton is our best QB and it ain't even close.

“Mostly the same Oline”…. Seeing that a lot lately… did y’all not see 62 getting his poo pushed in? Nearly sacked Darnold a couple times himself by getting bulldozed backwards into him.

There’s only 5 linemen guys… 1-2 of those guys being out or not 100% can change the dynamic of the team instantly and it showed today.

Fitt assuming we were good staying pat with what we had last year at oline and not providing quality depth is about as bad of a choice as trading away our WR1 and a 1st for BY. Fitt’s ass and the team’s success or lack there of displays it.

I can't say that. He got a pretty middling defense. And he's a seasoned pro, supposedly one of the better backups in the league. You could probably put Dalton on the Texans or Colts and they might be undefeated right now. You also have to take coaching and context into account.

In my opinion, Bryce's growth and experience means way more towards the long-term progress of our franchise than useless losses by Dalton.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
