Positive side to the potential lockout (Re: John Fox)

It seemed for a while in 2008 the Panthers were contenders. Jake was playing well, the running game was unstoppable, even the defense was shutting down the opposition early into the season.

...maybe it was a good enough performance that Jerry Richardson could've made the move to extend Fox's contract. But if the potential lockout in 2011 is influencing the decision he has to make of whether or not to fire him after this dissappointment of a season, it had to have kept him from keeping him here for the long term and I honestly think he would've done it last season.

I'm sick of Fox, just like many other people here. His inconsistency, the fact that the last 4 years the Panthers really haven't been a good team and the way he and Hurney fuged up a lot of poo during the offseason have lost the support of many fans. Think there's a risk he might do well next season to require an extension? Probably not, since the fact that many free agents will not be available due to the expiration of the CBA, and with no first round pick, and a history of making bad picks in the middle rounds, leaves little room for the Panthers to improve. We might have to sit through another 16 games of ineptitude and wondering what the fug it is they're trying to do on the field but after that we can look forward to a new era and a fresh football philosophy.
