1k yard wishes

With the combination of the economy and a new 4 month old baby I'm flat broke and have pretty much cancelled the Christmas gift giving.

As such my wishes have gone from material things to hoping the Panthers can finish strong, evaluate young players and most of all see two milestones reached.

Smith has 922 receiving yards so yet another 1k receiving yard is on reach for him. Given the disasterous QB play and our offensive philosophy that's quite a feat.

Stewart needs just under 200 yards in the next two games to eclipse the 1k mark in his short pro career. Thinking about this really brings to lighthow much our run gameand O-line have improved. Only a couple years ago we were yearning for a thousand yard back, the first since Stephen Davis in 2003.

Now we've seen Williams break Davis' record and establish the Panthers as perhapsthe best rushing attack in the league. We now also have the chance to become one of the very few teams in the history of the league to boast 2 1k runners in the same season. Again, given the struggles in the passing game this would be a monumental acheivement.

So, here's to a strong and historic finish to an otherwise very depressing season.

Agreed (I had a similar post yesterday I think it was)!

Congrats again on the baby (I think I offered them up before?) and I'm sorry to hear about your financial troubles...

We might not see eye to eye a lot of times, but if I could do it, I'd take you and your family out for dinner or something... That is what this time of year is about for me, regardless of it's religious undertones...

Stay strong through the tough times and it will prepare you for the very worst... Keep your head up and know that (to borrow from The Crow) "It can't rain all the time."

That said, Happy Holidays, and GOOOO PANTHERS!

Well thanks for the well wishes, sympathy and general sentiment; however that was supposed to merely be a segway, not a "pity me" diatribe.

Despite financial hardship I can say without question that I have been incredibly blessed.

My main point was the accomplishments of Smith and Stewart particular when you look at circumstances.
