I think what it is, is that a lot of people didn't want Bryce to begin with (let alone the trade).

We have then been told by every coach, player, "expert", and fan that he has this super brain and was the most pro ready QB in the bunch and that he's exceeded all expectations.

Then we see this........

So for people like myself, it's a flooding back of all our concerns over him in the first place, the things we've tried our best to ignore and get excited about Bryce ever since the pick was official, since he was then our QB and we want him to do well.  Which is why I keep hammering home that I'm less upset about Bryce the player right now than I am about just getting re-pissed off about the trade, which is still so much worse than the Bryce pick because of the value vs risk being off the charts against us here.

Most of that is me. I feel that.
I dont get why people are calling criticism “vitriol” at Bryce Young.
If I have any of that is if for the idiots that crowned him before the takes an NFL snap and they did it starting well before the draft. And they gloat that him being picked is affirmation of their football intelligence and just crow more.
Any criticism of the pick, the player, they go straight for the fan card. Unless you praise it all, you are not a fan. Or you are stupid because you don’t follow the ‘smart’ crowd (don’t share their opinion). And I oretty much think they are stupid, for being so homery and close minded they won’t even legitimately consider the objections to the player (again, not the person).

This is the type of stuff you get if you speak on it: No your eyes didn’t see a lack of velocity, everybody says his arm is plenty good for the NFL.  That’s what the attitude is towards a question if his arm strength. Same with the athleticism questions. SEC is as good as the NFL that is proof enough. He did it there against NFL players!
(prevailing attitude of Young supporters in an argument, who never seem to consider there are far more non NFL players on the field in probably every one of those games).

I have not called him a bust, I am not sure he will be one. I think if he can learn how to time his throws and can survive the abuse he can be an average starter, maybe, which isn’t chopped liver.

The thing that was so crazy or objectionable to me is the value they assigned to him, because I adamantly believe he is not the type of player that you give that up for. He will have to prove that before I accept it, so Super Bowl, consistent playoffs, deep into them, etc).
I think he was a late 1st gamble at best.
He could succeed generally IOW have a career but I just cant see a career profile commensurate with the currency used on him.

What workload is on them is irrelevant when the games go live on Sunday. Stroud and Richardson look more pro ready than Bryce.

If they suit up and play they need to perform and the other two rookies are outperforming Bryce.

Bryce is 12th in total pass attempts but he’s 28th in completion percentage and 31st in yards and dead last in average with 4.2. He’s only ahead of Zach Wilson is quarterback rating. You can point to things CJ is doing great. You can point to things that Richardson is doing great. If Bryce is failing because he’s being asked to somehow do more than maybe he’s not ready for the workload.

I don’t believe this is too big for him. I think he’s just played poorly for two weeks and the things he was advertised as hasn’t shown up yet outside of if a guy is wide open he can accurately get them the ball. But we were pitched that he can throw people open. Now folks are grumbling saying Theilen and Hurst and Sanders aren’t good enough to get open enough for Bryce to make plays.

It's actually a pretty common thing for coaches of rookie quarterbacks to "dumb down" the attack so that the rookie doesn't have to think too much.

A lot of times, it leaves rookies looking like they've got a greater command of the offense then you might know because they aren't being asked to do all that much. Like say, audible out of a pre-snap read.

For the record, Young did that three or four times on Monday night.
