Need to trade Burns

And honestly, he won't get us a first back, but at this point I'd probably trade Chinn as well.

That one also has NOTHING to do with the player, but the coaching staff.

They seem hell bent on not using him.  What's the point in having a player with his versatility and talent to only have him on the field for 30% of the snaps?!?!?!?!

Totally opposite of Burns, I want Burns here but feel like his trade value is what's best for this team.  Chinn's playing ability is what is best for the team but the coaches seem to want to force him into being a slot NB only, which just makes no sense and is a waste.

Panthers will be eliminated from the playoffs probabky after this week - and whenever the trade deadline is - maybe they can flip burns to a team going all in and get a first rounder for him. Doesn’t sound like the contract stuff is very close.

man, what a dumpster fire this team has become. Terrible management, awful roster management, trading first round picks, terrible coaching hires.

Burns won't get us a first back?  Didn't Denver trade Chubb and a 5th to Miami for a 1st, 4th and running back?  It was a contract year for Chubb too.  I would think Burns would fetch us something similar if not more.

lol, you read my post wrong

I've been the one telling people for the last 2 weeks that we'll easily be able to get 2 firsts for Burns, as worst case scenario we franchise tag him and someone will still sign him and get the 2 firsts that way, so someone will give that up at the deadline to get him to try and make a SB run this year.

The, "won't get a first for him" was in regards to trading Chinn, who I really have zero interest in trading, I'd love to sign him to an extension right now and use him correctly.  But the coaches seem to have no interest in doing that and I think some team out there might give up a 3rd rounder or something for him.

I'd hate the trade, but it's better than only playing him 1/3rd of our defensive snaps and then watching him walk in free agency.

What to they do to get a 1st rnd pick in 2024. What sort of package would you put together to make that happen?

Opinions please.....

If we take a 1 for Burns after turning down the Rams offer of two ones and a two, it's time to get the pitchforks out and head to Scott's house.

Lol my bad.  It's been a long day.  Yeah Chinn won't get us a 1st.  I was getting frustrated with Chinn making plays on Monday then getting pulled the next play.

Right?!?!

He's not a safety, he's not a NB, he's a LB who can be shifted around all over the field as needed on a per play call basis.

His rookie year was about the only thing Rhule's staff ever got correct and he was looking like a future all-pro type of player.  Ever since then, coaches have been trying to shove him into a neat little box and force him to play a position instead of just being a heat seeking missile out there attracted to the football.

We will likely have too much cap space available this offseason to get comp picks in return if guys like Chinn walk as we're going to end up bringing in a couple decently paid FA's.  So if that's the case and we're not going to try to actually use him, might as well try to get something for him now instead of having him on the sideline for 70% of the plays this year and watch him walk away for free in the offseason.

At least Burns is out there on the field trying to help us right now, makes it at least easier to understand wanting to keep him around.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
