Panther what ifs

Just throwing random questions out there to get rid of some of these doom and gloom threads.

But what are some of the biggest  "what ifs " y'all think when it comes to the Panthers.

Mine is always what if nipple shorts never cut Smitty and he played here through 2016 ??

Would him and Cam become a Moss and Culpeper style of players... would we have won the Superbowl??

Maybe it would have gotten very toxic and maybe the Panthers don't have the same 2015 season as they did... who knows.

We never go to the Super Bowl in 2015 if 89 stayed.  So much of that ride was about the environment Cam created.  89 gets in the way of that.  Which was basically the point of releasing him IMO.

mine is what would the Delhomme era of been like if Tommy Jone never did what Tommy Jone does

If Cam's shoulder doesn't fall apart and Luke doesn't develop a glass jaw we're still basking in the glow of the golden era of Panthers football. Instead, here we are. Talking about bygone what ifs in September. We'd start talking draft soon but why bother after that Bryce trade? Bryce is either an elite QB or we're good and proper fuged for awhile aside from hitting on some really lucky non-1st round draft picks.

We may not have been 15-1, but we would have went 12-4 or 13-3 with Smith in 2014 then followed it up with another 12-4 or 13-3 season in 2015. I believe we would have made the Super Bowl in one of those years with Smith. We we’re progress well with Smith and became a big time NFC team in 2013. Also, we wouldn’t have had to draft Kelvin Benjamin so Cam’s shoulder wouldn’t have turned to mush.

My biggest what if? Glad you asked I think about it a lot.

In 2010 we went into the season with Matt Moore who had shown promise and Jimmy Clausen a second round bust but at the time was the most “pro ready QB” in the draft.

Moore came out flat (not really his fault) and benched himself after a couple of games. Clausens turn and he was DOGSHIT. Moore comes back in and beats the 49ers, showing flashes of himself from the previous year and injures his Shoulder. Clausen finishes the year, Panthers go 2-14 and lock up the number 1 pick (Cam Newton).

Had Moore not injured his shoulder, good chance we would have won more games. How many? Idk but more, certainly pushing us out of the number 1 pick.

Would Fox have been retained? Would Moore have reclaimed the starting job? Would we have drafted Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker? Would we have signed Matt Hasselbeck? Or traded for Donovan McNabb or Carson Palmer who were both traded that offseason. We will never know. We gained Cam all thanks to Matt Moore’s shoulder.

"What if" we didnt fug up EVERY single player extension decision EVER??

So many dudes walked for nothing (Samuel, Norman, Bradbury, Starr, Norwell), got overpaid (Delhomme, CMC), got paid and laid a fuging egg (Trae Turner, the DT that year I can't even think of the name for).

Its just extremely fuging depression.

Turd after turd after turd for GM, and, who IN THE WORLD has EVER fired a GM then hired him a few years later? IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS????

Worth it for tne last sentence.

I dont know what happened inside the team but I like to think Cam and Smitty would have worked that stuff out.

I believe Gettleman used that angle to justify an unpopular financially motivated move.
The cap was fuged and Smitty wouldn’t take a pay cut is more what the real reason probably was.
And since JR loved Smitty, he would have paid him I believe. G man had to get JR onboard somehow. I can’t sign no affidavit about it though, NDA.
