The Saints knew it was coming. They were just waiting there. More deep attempts to Chark and use Laviska more. Those are our most explosive players until Mingo gets more comfortable.

I mean Thielen got a few yards out of one or two of them. Mingo looked like he had no idea what to do with it. Laviska is the screen king. But let's draw one up like Shanahan does with Deebo. We know it's coming too, but...

I mean if it's not the plays, it's the execution. So...who's not executing, Frank?

It’s the plays. You have 2 backup OGs in the game so let’s take our RB and ram him into the middle which is a strength for NO over and over and see what happens. Option 2 is a constant WR screen to Theilen?? Who might be our least athletic WR….

Really? Rattle off the list.

Rattle off the list of QBs that started day one? You think that’s hard?

2023 - All three 1sts started day 1

2022 - Pickett came in game 4, started every game since

2021 - Lawrence, Wilson and Mac started week 1. Trey Lance is dog poo and Fields started week 3.

2020 - Burrow started week 1, Herbert started week 2 (no idea why) and Tua started late because of his hip injury when people weren’t even sure if he’d play that year. Love was selected when GB had a HOF QB there.

2019 - Murray started day 1, Jones started week 3. Haskins was trash.

Sorry, but I hope you weren’t actually being serious when you thought I was wrong that top rookie QBs, especially top 10 picks start week 1.

Outside of injury (Tua), being behind a HOF QB (Love) or just being a shitty QB (Lance and Haskins) that doesn’t even make it through the rookie deal, almost every QB drafted in the first started week 1 or at worst week 3. Honestly, I probably shouldn’t even have Pickett or Love in my list because they were taken by playoff teams at 20+ draft slots.

Every 1st overall pick in the last 5 drafts (4 of them) started week 1 and haven’t stopped starting except for injury.

If Young sat for Dalton for most of this year, I’d say we fuged up the pick royally. He may never reach elite status but if he didn’t start until we’ll into the season it would be a really bad sign as the top pick.

Herbert started week 2 because a team doctor punctured Tyrod Taylor’s lung in accident or something weird like that…

Lol, you got Burrow and that's it.  The rest struggled.  Rookie QBs need to sit, period.  The higher the draft pick the fewer game they sit, but throwing their arse to the wolves is, and always has been, a bad idea.  That is unless you are FULLY prepared to take on a losing...sometimes UGLY losing season. In today's NFL, HCs have about two years to turn it around.  That being said you can hope the rookie is forged by fire after a brutal rookie campaign OR start a veteran an ease the rookie in if the things aren't going swimmingly after the first several games.

    • My understanding is that Canales was asked about Tommy Tremble. Canales stated he had had back surgery, it was successful, and that they expected Tremble back for Training Camp. The Panthers PR person later clarified that Tremble will start TC on the PUP list. However, PUP during preseason isn't like PUP during the regular season where you definitely will miss time. Tremble can come off the PUP at any point, and to me Canales' statement made it seem like they were expecting him fully back near the start of TC. So, reading the team leaves, it seems like Tremble will be at TC but not practicing at least initially. Canales seemed to indicate he expected Tremble to be a part of TC, so that would indicate they anticipate him being activated around the start of TC. In terms of concern, who can honestly say? Its certainly not ideal that the surgery took place now. However, it does seems like this is an issue the team was fully aware of, and the plan was to rehab without surgery. The concern is obviously Tremble wasn't fully recovering without surgery, now the surgery will at least impact TC, and surgeries are never guaranteed. And back injuries linger and rarely completely resolve. Still, there are a whole gamut of procedures that constitutes back surgery, and while surgery is only "minor" when it's not your own, this doesn't seem to be a minor procedure. Tremble is in the building this week, so it's obvious hes not incapacitated or anything. Will just have to wait and monitor.  Im excited to see how JT Sanders and Mitchell Evans look in 2 TE sets since they fit more differentiated roles (Sanders is primarily a receiving threat, and Mitchell is more of a traditional TE). I hope Tremble is fully healthy for Week 1. This isn't the flashiest TE group in the league, but I think given the emergence of Sanders, as long as Tremble and Evans can be good role players we should be fine.
    • Meh camp is where Bryce looks the best. The answers will start to trickle in during the joint practices and that game but game 1 has been the real starting line for the reality of the season the last 2 years.
