What has Scott Fitterer done right?

Ekwonu over Evan Neal and that's it. Thinking we needed to trade up for Bryce with this group of skill players is funny.  Worst skill position players on offense in the NFL. Tepper being the worst owner in the entire NFL doesn't help.

^^^This.  We needed to build this offense and drop in a rookie next year.  This is not a shot at Bryce, but this offense was always going to be a major 'work in progress' this year and make it that much more difficult for a rookie QB; Young or any other of his fellow QBs in this draft had we gone that path.

Why does this matter? In either scenario we wouldn’t have a chance to really contend until year 3. Seems better to have the QB with one extra year under his belt than the skill players. QBs that make it usually make their big leaps after year 1

Yeah, those rumors were just that. Reports since then have shown otherwise.

Of course I know you won't believe those reports if they don't support what you think happened, so...

Can't be true 😲

everything is rumors.   or PR messaging from the org after a decision has been made to set narratives.  you pick and choose like everyone else.

I mean, Tepper in his own words and on camera said what type decisions he would be involved with.  And the #1 overall draft pick/franchise QB would be one of those type decisions Tepper said he would be in on.

ignore him, he doesn’t actually care, he’s still melting down because the team traded DRAFT PICKS when he was begging to me to trade down so we could all read his awful takes on future 6th round wash outs

How much of picks/FA’s were based on Rhules pull is still unknown. But, I hate the way Fitts moves up and down the draft board and trades away picks for JAGS.

But the biggest elephant in the room is trading up for Corral, while saying they had a first round grade on him. I was sure we had traded up for Howell when the trade was announced.

I’d like to see a spreadsheet of picks given and cap space/dead money we’ve accumulated trying to find QB1. Hopefully Bryce works out or we’re in deep trouble…

Yeah, sure 😆

Basically, your view boils down to "I'll believe what I want to, facts be damned". If the reports don't match up to those beliefs, then you're just dismiss them because per your own words "David Tepper is right in the room with you".

You're also conveniently skipping over the fact that Tepper has defined his 'involvement". Specifically, he asks questions and tries to ensure that the process is solid, but neither makes nor tries to influence decisions regardless of his own feelings.

I'm surprised he didn't tell you that when he was sitting next to you 🤔

Or the supporting cast is so bad that you ruin the rookie.  I think Bryce is stronger than that, at least hopefully, but that's the reason rookies plopped onto decent teams generally fair better than clubs that draft a QB during either a full-blown or partial rebuild.

1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th + DJ Moore.   I think that is correct in terms of what we gave up QBs recently.

Plus it gets weird how you want to define giving up CMC.   But he was part of that equation.  And then note the rest of CMC was for DJ Johnson essentially.

Not entirely true...

Between insider reports and behind the scenes video, we've been able to piece together certain items. The Thomas Fletcher pick for example was Rhule,  the decision to take Darnold's fifth year option was Fitterer, etc.

Last year's Camp Confidential pretty well documented that the quarterback draft scouting owed a lot to Ben McAdoo. Corral was the guy McAdoo preferred. Not much was said about Howell.

As far as the actual trade up, video of  Rhule telling Fitterer he thought it was time to trade up, and even making the call to broker the deal himself. Tepper agreed, while Fitterer just kind of looked uncomfortable but ended up signing on.

Is everything out there? No, but there's a lot.

The most important supporting cast for the quarterback in his first season is the offensive line. We've got that.

The skill players come next, but I don't expect those to be further addressed until next season unless something surprising happens.

There has been a lot of bad, and quite a bit of good...IMO.

Mixing control with Tepper and Rhule was a mess, but with Tepper and Rhule, it was always going to be so...so I'm going to go with OK in his first 2 years.  He was HAMSTRUNG, but also seemed to make plenty of bad calls on his own....I think.

That said, I do like the trajectory of this team, and front office currently.

I like Samir, Dan, and Fitts as a team....getting a better feel for this FO every year.

I like our current coaching staffs, and I like the fact that he helped convince Tepper to overspend on the staff, overspend on getting some QC guys in place (Dom and Jim), and I like that we have cornerstone pieces on our defensive and offensive lines to build on.

Overall, the players have been a mixed bag, the contracts haven't been back breaking, but the direction that we are headed looks brighter than the past 10 years.

I'm keeping the guy a while longer to see how this plays out.

The only decision I would trust Ben McAdoo to make is which buffet line to start at when we hit up Golden Corral.
