Last time we passed on third and long???

Can someone please tell me why we run the following plays on third down?

A. Draw play

B. Pass to fullback in the flat

C. Tight End 4 yards short of the first

D. Quick out to Smitty or whomever. Today Mo

I have been with these guys forever and still dont understand Fox's fear of taking a chance. I knew the Saints were still in this on as Im sure every long time fan did. Fox here is a clue. Its OK to beat a team without going to the last play, especially when you are dominating.

Jake also threw into double coverage alot but thank god we have Smitty. DWill, those stats equal MVP. Great year everyone. Looking forward to the playoffs.

Yeah im very very comfortable with D-Will now. Every time it goes to him, there's a chance it could go to the house. That one running play by D-Will right before the FG really showed his determination, he just kept going going and pushing fighting for extra yardage. Even my Cowboy fan friend was like damn, doe he ever give up? hes a beast.

I commented to my husband at one point that he reminded me of Fred Lane - the way he kept going and going and pushing and pushing.

That quick out to Moose today on 3rd & 12 had me pulling my hair out. I figure we should be used to it by now but it just screamed "Typical Conservative Fox Play".

And you'd be the first one in here to call for coach firings if we took a chance resulting in an interception instead of the set-up to a field goal...

Why is it that Brees can throw it up into double coverage and it's considered to be 100% skill, but when Delhomme does it, it's always pure luck, even though Smitty has proven over and over that he's one of the best WR's that has ever played this game when the ball is in the air and that he and Delhomme are almost always on the same page?

I'm not against making an effort for more yardage, but it just seems like those plays never really net much with Smith, let alone Moose. Plus, those types of plays are the riskiest for interceptions that end up being pick sixes.

I'm just saying, if we want some small yardage, use the run. We've got the best combo in the league for gaining a few yards. And I'll have you know that I've never called for a coach firing. Identifying a play as a Conservative Fox Play doesn't make me a pissed off fan chomping at the bit. Relax.

Any offensive coordinator is going to call those types of plays if they're any good at what they do. On a 3rd and 12 for instance, you cannot run a 12 yard route and expect it not to be covered. You either have to run a very risky 15+ yard play or play underneath and let someone make a move.

I didn't understand that going to Moose either....he doesn't have the moves or speed to make something out of that.

.... yeah, delhomme getting squirrely with the ball, fox knows that sh!t...think thats why he tries to get conservative early on a lead. I pray we get some new plays prior to the playoffs, something we havent seen and that we can use when we need some yardage in a pinch. something unpredictable but safe.

A lot of people will never appreciate Jake. Thats ok at least the coaching staff and some of us do.
