Smith isn't the best. With respect to sheer talent, I might take Moss, Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson or CJ in his stead.

He is grossly underrated by most fans, though. If he played for any major franchise, he would be pampered by the media.

The one question I have to ask is which of those receivers that you mentioned have gotten a triple crown (Most Receptions/Yardage/TDs)? To my knowledge, Smitty is one of the very few to ever have done that... and that was in a year where the Panthers didn't have a running game and everyone knew the ball was going to 89... if only Delhomme (or whoever starts at QB for us) could have another passing season like that on top of our running game...

Smitty is 1 of 3 to ever reach that achievement, the Triple Crown. The other 2 are Jerry Rice and Sterling Sharpe. Not bad company at all...

I'm shocked Steve Smith and his Agent haven't tried to get him to a TOP QB team, it is amazing what he's done with Delhomme as his QB.

He's from SoCal, imagine if he went to Chargers and teamed up with Phillip Rivers and Gates.

He also mentioned in a presser after that about Moore's play and said Moore did great and made some big plays, and so did I. I just hope he wasn't using SNF as an interview. Scary for a guy that's been vocal about his displeasure in Carolina's passing game.

On that note, hopefully if Moore can keep playing well, Smitty won't be so eager to leave. I really hope Moore comes out and plays well against NY and NO, and maybe gets some of our FA's thinking how good we could be with a decent QB.

That sounds a bit like a message to the F.O. Does Smith really want to leave Charlotte? Probably not. Does he want a SB win? Absolutely. He wants the FO to make sure there is someone better than average who can get him the ball. If the Panthers are able to get Smith the ball, run the ball effectively, and play decently on D, then we stand a good chance of being good enough to win a Super Bowl, which is the ultimate goal.

Who would trade for a 30 year old WR who'se fastest days are behind him? With the salary and ego he has? Dunno...would the Panthers let him go? Probably not.

Smith is the best bottom line...:smilielol5: Really though None of though players can top the play Smith makes with just sheer will. Everyone of those players you named has a great or at least top 15 QB to go with him. Smith has had Jake almost all season and still has over 1000 yards this year. Thats about damn amazing.

It is truly amazing the way Smity plays. I mean he is 5'9 and has some of the worst Qb play in the league, but somehow he still puts up big numbers. Guys like AJ and fitz are great, but they have less to overcome than smity has. Those guys got the size the good QB play, so to me they should be playing the way they are. For smity to be even considered as one of the best receivers is crazy considering all the odds are against him. Man its scary to think about the numbers he would put up with just some consistent QB play. Smity to me is the best just because of what he has to overcome.
