To all those that kept saying Matt Moore was garbage

Jase's arm strength complaint is irrelevant. We are not the 99 rams.

There are times when he's going to have to make a throw off of his back foot or zip a ball to a receiver running a deep dig route. I would like our QB to be able to make all of the throws instead of just some of the throws, especially if it can be mostly fixed with better mechanics.

Moore looked good last night, and has played much better than Jake. I also agree with many that he should have been playing way earlier this year because of how bad Jake was. But there is no way the Panthers should go into the next offseason with the mindset Moore is the starter and then ignore the QB position again.

What amuses me is that there are a few posters in this thread and on this board that are criticizing Moore for having the best performance by a Carolina quarterback since October 9, 2005 (against the Vikings actually, it was the day where 89 almost ran Fred Smoot out of the league and Gamble shredded Culpepper's knee) and yet made nothing but excuse after excuse after excuse for Jake this season.

I said it in another thread but next week is the real test. I went to the Vikings board last night and everyone agreed they simply played like crap (which they did), and were not dominated by us. That said, this week we're on the road against a team still in the Playoff race (assuming they win tonight versus the Skins). If Moore can put on a similar performance against NY, well damn, maybe we have something here. The Saints game will be no test, as we'll play their backups.

Steve Smith finally showed what he is capable of with a competent quarterback. Moore spread the ball around, had decent pocket awareness, and most of all, gave the best player the ball. You don't need a big arm to play in this league; Jake's big arm has turned the ball over on bombs.

Matt Moore is going to be a very viable option next year. I still say we should look for a QB if one is there, but Moore has me biting.

every team can claim that following a loss.....shoot, the Rams can claim they don't ever get dominated and just play like crap. Carolina did everything in that game better than Minny......it ain't like they had a Jake Delhomme that washed away the good things they did out there. Carolina gets full credit for this one imo.

NY will be tough for Moore. Cold, windy.....and who knows what else.

Moore had a good game, much better than last week when he was just flat lucky not to get picked 3 times.

Concerns about his arm are valid, though. The timing/touch stuff will come with more practice with the first team, but he just tosses rainbows deep.. you've just got to hope your receiver runs under them, not the defender.

A factor that must also be considered with Moore is that he's not playing with a great deal of pressure at this point. The team is already eliminated from playoff contention and it's obvious which team was pressing last night. Not that the game wasn't important to him, but the best thing you can do for yourself as a quarterback is to simply relax and make your reads. I feel like Jake has been pushing it since Day 1 and that's why he never got it back.

I was also very impressed by the game that Davidson called for him. I think it's the same thing he wanted to do with Jake, but Jake was so inaccurate even on short throws that it didn't work out. Take a chunk on the ground on 1st down. 2nd down is 50-50 pass or run, 3rd and short is 70/30 pass or run. Short and decisive throws. Once they get the idea that you're going to keep it short, mix it up and take a shot at Smith in single coverage. Matt to his credit made those throws when it counted. Also, his extensive work with the 2nd and 3rd team opened up some options in the passing game that Jake simply didn't trust. Barnidge and Rosario become immediate threats when Moore is in the game because he reads those guys the best. He actually had a decent connection with King as well due to King working with the 2nd team in camp.

Now that the book is out that you can't stack the box against Carolina with Matt Moore in the game, look for next week to be more extensive on the ground unless we strike out early or DeAngelo isn't able to go.

I think Matt Moore is made of good stuff and he'll be fine as long as we don't expect him to make throws that he simply doesn't have the arm to make. If we can stay within 7 points of the Giants or ahead ideally, then we shouldn't have to worry about that.

One decent game... and he's made out to be "THE SAVIOR"

Watch, as next week, he'll have a bad game and you'll call for his head.

Just like your namesake....You aren't very bright. OK listen up. Read this slowly word for word so you understand. If you stilll don't understand go back and read it again.

Matt Moore 4-2 against 5 playoff bound teams. Speaks volumes. More than a ONE HIT WONDER.

He will earn next seasons starting role in the next 2 weeks.

Go Panthers
