pending he stays healthy, TMJ will have logged 3 straight seasons on a team that isn't deep at WR.  I don't consider it a trolling take to say that if he hasn't shown something at the conclusion of year 3......that it's time to look elsewhere.  Even if you don't actually cut him, the plan will need to be looking for an answer elsewhere.

I wasn't talking about that one..........................

Zavala?

I will say that zavala has the most potential to contribute and be impactful but again it's due to injuries to both of our guards, he gets the start by default.  You can find good interior offense linemen in the mid-late rounds. It's like saying that Keith Taylor and Stanly Thomas Oliver were great late round picks because our CBs were hurt and they played. These 2 CBs are no longer on the roster.

After one game?

Hell, it's still too early to truly judge last year's class still yet. And that's not even factoring in the that the coaching changes mean we're looking for players to fit different systems.

I'm projecting Fitt's draft history to this class. I do hope that we hit on difference makers in this draft but history tells us it's not likely to happen. Our team is devoid of talent outside of a few players. We've had way more misses than hits that's all I'm saying.

That's a consequence of the coaching change, though.

We need to accept that the 2022 QB draft class was crap and MC is not good. Everyone was reaching for a QB even Pittsburgh who took Pickett in the first round. If Tennessee thought Willis had potential then why did they draft Levis this year? The fact that our new staff moved on from MC shows that he wasn't worth it, they came in with unbiased opinion. We as the fanbase wanted a QB so bad that we fooled ourselves into believing MC had untapped potential. We need a WR so bad, we believe that TMJ just needs a good QB to be good.

We're not devoid of talent at all.

We're in year one of a rebuild where we've shifted from drafting for a college type 3-3-5 where the DC wanted small players up front to an NFL prototype 3-4 that needs massive guys up front.

On offense, we're moving to a Reid style WCO (with some Sean McVay influences via our OC) from.an offense that was basically a mishmash spearheaded by a nimrod with no clear plan other than to throw players together and see what worked.

Hell, we got lucky on the defensive side at least in that our arguably best player is better tuned to what we're doing now than the role he was shoehorned into before.

That may be, but it's not the GM's fault.

But he hasn't been a highly sought after asset once he was waived. He was picked up by the Pats, cut, then cleared waivers again. That's got nothing to do with our coaching change. That's the NFL saying he ain't got it. Fitts traded up to get him. It was also a panic pick. Fitts swung and missed.

He wasn't cut, actually still isn't.

That story's still playing out...in very weird ways

Then stop saying they have star potential!

It's amazing how people hype these players then when the games come they are nowhere to be found.

Im obsessed with stars for good reason. They are good players who help you win games. The only stars on this roster are Burns and Brown.

I haven't seen anyone hype TMJ since he's been here. People have generally said that maybe he could put it all together after flashing (after injury), and that if he could then that would be great. I haven't seen one person claim TMJ is the savior. He's always been a question mark. Obviously, this is a critical time in his career. The coaches decided to keep him because he had something on tape that basically said that he is worth exploring this season. I would hardly consider any of that hype.

Re: Marshall

The guy who pushed the team to draft him got (deservedly) fired in the middle of his second season as OC. Then the guy who hired and fired him got fired, so in a way he's "orphaned" as a Panther.

He's got talent, and great physical traits. Those things alone don't make a great player though, and Marshall has struggled to put it together.

My biggest question is whether or not Shawn Jefferson can bridge the gap between what he is and what they think he could be.

My guess? He'll play out the season and be allowed to seek work elsewhere next year.

But we'll see.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
