Can't wait to see how many people complain about his contract in the offseason. Burns and Brown gonna be some of the highest paid defensive players in football. Might as well accept reality folks!

Yup they definitely will until another player signs after them and tops their deal. It's just the way it goes I hope some under appreciative fans are ready to see them get a big bag.

I saw a couple plays where he was TRIPLE teamed. We need to lock him in long term before the market goes up. That Titans Simmons deal is looking like a great contract right now. Maybe we can slightly overpay for Burns and underpay for Brown?

Sounds like a smart and reasonable   plan.

I think you got to have a player 3ish years.  Some can come out hot like Colbert and some come out slow and turn out nice.

Unfortunately I think Steve Smith played a part in Colberts failure. Did you notice during Steves hay day that no other receivers ever developed into much of anything at all. I think Colbert truly had it in him to develop but Smith hurt it unfortunately. Not saying I hate Steve Smith by any means as he was amazing but man his desire to hold onto his job and take out anything in his path even transferred over to his teammates I think. Years ago I spoke to Colbert upon meeting him by chance long after his career was over and he seemed like a really good dude. I asked him what happened and he said there were some things and some people in place that sometimes make it tougher on younger players to reach their potential. I fully believe he was referring to Steve Smith but he didnt seem like the type of guy to gossip directly and drop a name. Good guy all around.

Brown was arguably the best player on D last year.  Burns just plays a sexier position.   Same with Star vs KK.  Star was always better here.  He just had a dirtier role.

I notice.  I pay close attention to the dline.  Derrick puts in the work. I'm not sure who it was beside Derrick on that sack but that guy was triple teamed on that play. They still managed to get two blockers on Brown but he still got home. One of the wildest plays by the defense I've seen in a long time.

They want to keep good players, have to open the checkbook. If they don't want a bunch of JAG's and be able to compete with the big boys.....$$$$.

they wont eat crow but the many huddlers who said he was a bust two years ago... you did a good job demonstrating you dont understand professional football. Hats off to you.

We never said he was a bad player. We said that was a talented draft class with more valuable pieces in it, I wanted CD or Wirfs on draft night and I’d still prefer either of those over DB currently.

For the record, we drafted DB to stop the run and got gashed on the ground Sunday. Obviously that’s not his fault, I just don’t see him as an elite game altering player.

So are they going to pay both Burns and Brown top dollar. Brown had a decent 1st half, but that 2nd half really sucked. Can blame the offense for not converting on 3rd downs and keeping them rested or blame the secondary for allowing those 3rd down conversions. Don't think they will pay both. So which one do you let go.

Brown led the team in tackles on Sunday … and he was excellent in the second half. Not sure what you are referring to….

Brown is a beast. And Burns would probably lead the league in sacks if he didn't have so many blow bys. Seems like several times every game he just comes screaming through the pocket without laying a hand on the QB. I wish he could find a way to throttle down and find the QB after getting by the block. Just watch the difference when Brown obliterates the blocker. Beats the block, quickly reassesses and resets and gets after the QB. It's like once Burns is on his trajectory there's no changing it.

    • He made some excellent throws but he always has made some excellent throws here and there. I don't know what to think, which is what I was apprehensive about. Is he going to have a decent downfield game? Because okay Legette dropped one, but someone was giving stats prior to the bye or during it where he had two downfield completions and one of them was the jump ball that is just launched and fingers are crossed that our guy comes down with it, and yesterday we saw that again. The Russell Wilson school of downfield passing.  I don't feel like that is sustainable, but at the same time you have to do Something to make the defense understand they have to defend that downfield throws. Like i said, confused.  I guess I'm going to review the game for myself and look closely at his mechanics and stuff because if he actually fixed that stuff it explains the better throws. And that has been my biggest objection, or what I see as the thing that makes or breaks his chances, that unorthodox dropback and tippy toe action and not having his feet set which limits velocity etc etc.
    • The negative Nancy in me (or objective?) says that they had a bye week to prepare for the Chiefs. However, it’s one thing to have a good plan and it’s another to actually execute it. For all the flack he’s received (from me as well), Bryce seemingly has put his head down and worked his tail off and his play is giving me hope. The first 18-game Bryce showed no progression whatsoever. He gets benched, comes back, and has shown steady progress every week he has started. I think I’m starting to see what the Bryce lovers and unconditional defenders were saying all along, and I hope he can show that on a regular basis for the sake of our QB1 position.
    • Yeah, we could still very well end up 4-13 with the 2nd pick.   I think LVR has the inside track for 1, with only a JAX team as a team on docket that could be beatable.
